This is the only one I have, its from the day I bought it. I've since sand blasted the wheels and they look much nicer

I like my rabbit a lot but I had to get a newer, more reliable car for my job. So since I just bought a new beetle TDI...I might have to let the rabbit go. If anyone has a serious interest, let me know. I'm in CT, USA

mine would not start one night, then I waited 5 hours and it started. The dealer said it was the relay for the power supply to the ECU that was failing intermitently. They fixed it, runs good now. mines a 2000

Test drove that same TDI today, went right out and test drove a different one. MAN what a difference! There was definitely something wrong with the first one. Either it wasnt puttin out any boost or it wasnt getting enough fuel, I dont know but I told the salesman to have it sent to maintenance and ...

that sounds like a good step by step for cleaning the coolant system out. If I replace the water pump and the few hoses that arent new, I'm lookin at about a hundred bucks. hmmmmm maybe its time for a second test drive then.......

It didnt seem very powerful but it would do 85mph on the highway just fine. I think I'll test drive an '06 and then compare it to that '00.

I already dumped the coolant and tried to flush it out with water. I'll drive it up the highway tomorrow to get it nice and hot, then I'll see what happens. Thanks for all the help as usual. If it werent for this forum I'd have been lost months ago!

funny enough, the 1.6na feels at least AS STRONG as the TDI I test drove today.

whats this oil cooler everyones talking about? I had the motor out and didnt see a cooler, even checked the shop manuals and they didnt mention it...? am I missing something? :shock: btw... with my job I'll be driving 500 miles a day delivering narcotics to pharmacies and nursing homes, so I checked...

hmmmm possibly a hose..... I'll dig deeper tomorrow. Too frustrating today. In any event, I'm looking at a 2000 new beetle TDI on tuesday. I'll be driving up to 500 miles a day for my new job in july so I'll need something newer and more dependable anyway

I didnt see an oil cooler on this motor.........

upon closer inspection, it doesnt really look like oil, it looks like black flakey stuff......... what the hell could that be!!?!?! something seems to be disintigrating inside there......

Looks like the new headgasket isnt sealing. There is no compression leakage into the coolant, but sure looks like oil leakage. I'm done with this car, its going on ebay

I need a speedo cable with a white gear for my rabbit. Let me know if ya got one!
