I don't think it's worth it to go through all the extra work to move the battery as eliminating a couple of feet of 2 ga. wire is not going to make much difference. Also, the resistance of this cable does not change except for maybe an extremely small amount due to internal heating; of which there s...

Summit Racing, (http://summitracing.com) has electric water pumps but they're pricey .. $200-$300 and the ones in my catalog are all designed to bolt on to Chevys and Fords. You might be able to use a 12V circulator pump designed for solar-powered heating systems. These can handle fluids up to 250 d...

Yea, I thought about doing exactly this using a 3-6 gallon RV hot water heater with the valves necessary to route the domestic hot water through a flat plate heat exchanger. Probably would need another of those small pumps for the domestic loop. Or, you could cut a hole in the hot water heater tank ...

Thanks a lot Johann! That's exactly what I needed. Do you have the entire Transporter turbodiesel manual? I would like to try and find a copy. Here are some pics from my recent '86 GL to 1.6TD conversion ... http://pages.cthome.net/rasminko/overall.jpg http://pages.cthome.net/rasminko/turbo1.jpg htt...

I would be interested to know if anyone has checked the euro wiring diagram for the aux pump. Mine was disconnected when I got the motor but I do have an unused temp sensor near the head outlet. Of the three basic options: run pump when cold, run when hot, don't run at all, what's the consensus? I h...

So, bottom line, either type is OK? Does anyone know whether or not the "industrial" engines will also fit.

Thanks ... from what I read here I thought that the DK tranny didn't need any messing w/ the linkage but I'm definitely not sure about that. My tranny has had a blown syncro between 2nd & 3rd ever since I got it, not a big deal but it also needs a new clutch so I figured I'd just replace it if t...

Waterboxer2TD Shopping list

Well, I'm still fighting w/ my '86 2.1 Waterboxer fuel pressure problem and have started to collect parts for a diesel swap. I've been reading all the great posts here but just want to double check on what might be the best set-up. I have the engine carrier bars already so my shopping list so far ha...
