Had me guessing too.

I sent him the link to an aircooled vw site and one for Kennedy engineering trying to cover the bases. Either it was information on restification or on how to mount a diesel in split/bay aircooled. ???

I've seen an engine dropped using a couple 4x4 boards and some chain. The jack would proabably be safer, but this method works. 1. Put the rear of the van up on stands or such 2. Remove rear carpet and engine cover from inside the van 3. Stack some 2X6 pieces in front and back of the engine bay open...

I have to agree with Vancouver. I got a new one a few years ago, but it was pricey. Just don't use a used one, it'd only be a very temporary fix. I'm planning to do something similar to the above suggestion. I plan to take a trip to Home Depot and see what I can put together with copper pipe fitting...
