Alrightly then, when the headlight switch is off, only 6&7 are powered. With the parking lights on, 4,5,6&7 get juice, and with the high and low beams on, 2,3,4,5,6&7 get juice. 1 however, never gets any juice, and is connected to the interior light. Which is getting power, but not getti...

Neerrrr, wiring!

I have two good headlights which I tested off the battery. The problem is the switch won't turn on the high or low beams! All the other lights on the car work fine, with the exception of the dome light, but I think/hope that's a separate issue where I just need to clean out the door switches, since ...

It's a diesel in what used to be a gasser, so iirc it should be fused (fusible link?) in some way, since I'm using the black wire to what used to be the ignition coil for it, but I should take a real look just to make sure.

Iirc, a richer charge will help cool the intake charge at WOT for gassers to help avoid detonation, but for any load lesss than that it wouldn't do much. I don't see how I could melt anything in a diesel if there's no fuel in there. If anything it'd cool down the engine, which is what happens on my ...

Awesome, thanks for the info! The more I look at it, the more robust VW's diesel setup seems.
82vdub wrote:lyeinyoureye - why would you want to cut the fuel off to the engine, keep the engine turning going downhill? Are you trying to get some sort of engine braking?
Yup, engine braking w/o fuel use.

Question about inj pump

If I put in a kill switch for the pump solenoid, could I coast downhill with the engine in gear safely and no fuel being injected, or would I risk screwing up the inj pump since the engine's spinning but it's not operating?

Gassers w/ AC have a tube that's run to the hollow part of the front end. It's on the right which blows, but you may be able to relocate it on the other side.

Fwiw, if I start mine up and let it idle in the heat, ~100F, it'll get up to a little above half way before the fan kicks on. Not sure what normal operating temps are since I haven't put insurance on it to take it around the block yet, but I assume they're about the same.

vortex says factory spec is 173ft*lbs, so in your case ~.91 feet from the nut. However, I've always heard that more is better, so just hop up and down on the end of the breaker and you should be golden.

If you can find an A1, the swap's even easier. I mean, I pulled it off, more or less, and all I had done before that was a fuel filter.

Why don't you just get over a lane or two? I mean, slow traffic is slow traffic. I'll drive 55mph if I feel like it, and that's the lower limit, in the right lane.

It's something like "Brought to you by the petroleum refiners of America." or some equally lame PR based name near the end of the commercial

The funniest thing is they're taking credit for it, even though the only reason it was brought about was via gubberment mandate.
