There's a real good nut/bolt place about 90 miles away so I'll definitely call them up. Do you think a hydraulic business would have something in the right size?

Popped it off w/ a screwdriver/hammer np! I have what I hope is one last problem... It won't come out? I can rotate it about 45 degrees ccw, and a bit more than 180 degrees cw, but it feels like there isn't enough room to get the heater element out w/o some kind of slot or something? Could it be tha...

Welp, it's stuck. And pretty beat up too. I ended up tightening it about half a turn, and that didn't do anything, so I started to loosen it, and everything seemed to be going o.k. Eventually, it felt like it came to a stop, and couldn't loosen any more, which is where I am now. I'm hesitant to try ...

Oh thank *insert deity here*! Alright, that sounds much better. Actually now that you mention it, I googled and can see exactly what you're referring to. I guess I'm just freakin' out because I'm a n00b and want this swap to go over well. Most I ever did before I attempted this was change a fuel fil...

Arg, block heater leaking.

Probably because I took some of the crud off the back of the block with a wire brush, and gouged the edge of the block heater element/plug. Am I correct in assuming the only place where it could leak is around the outer edge, where it's press fit into the freeze plug hole? I figure I'll clean it up ...

I guess not. But... the gasser was an 82 CA spec, and CA has to do everything differently, so maybe that's it. :D

Huh, that's odd. The gasser w/o expansion tank is an 82, and the diesel w/ is an 81. I wonder why they flipped back and forth.

One last (hopefully) diesel to gas swap question

Can I delete the coolant overflow bottle/expansion tank and cap the line from it to the metal coolant line on the engine, or is it, along with the hose from it to the top of the radiator, needed in a diesel? According to the vortex, the top fill radiator holds the same amount a normal rad+expansion ...

Iirc the EPA highway test was at an average of 48mph, so the mileage you're getting seems about right. Drop down to 55mph if you want to break into the 50mpg range, and ~40mph for the 60mpg range.

Ah, I see... So the different rows correspond to different sets of things that get power at different times. Should be easy enough to figure out what gets power when by what items are grouped per row. In term of power to the rear for veg-oil, I was thinking about using the fuel pump wiring in back f...

O.k. now that it's day time I found the black coil wire! :D One last question and I should be set, does the red wire (says batt on it) going into the fuse panel power the whole thing? For instance, can I run extra stuff that's w/ fuses off of it, just put a fuse in an empty part, and run a wire to w...

That won't be happening any time soon, not peak, but the price situation you mentioned. My cousin works in the extraction industry and he's (along w/ everyone else except the president of the company) pissed as hell that they're still getting paid ~$5/bbl to pull it out of the ground by the oil co's...

How do I know it's positive? Just that it doesn't go to ground, or something else? Regarding the solenoid, my bentley says it was fused (#9) which is unmarked on the box and 25A (for me), bentley lists it as 10A. Was this for something inline? Fatmobile, is the black wire to the coil from the fuel i...

Electrical Q

Not exactly diesel specific, but I was wondering, for those that have done gas-> diesel swaps, is there any specific poinr that the injector pump solenoid needs to be connected to on the ignition switch, or will any of the fuse panel *locations be o.k. to run the injector pump solenoid wire to? I ha...
