Clutch Cylinders

Hi - loaded and leaving for the coast last night and got two blocks and couldn't shift. So... There's half a reservoir of fluid, but the master cylinder leaks visibly. I'm assuming it's bad, and am assuming when master goes, the slave goes next, and will order both. Master and slave connect with lot...

Howdy - saw another post on here about tranny swaps, and thought I'd move this 2-year-old conversation back to the top....

I'm feeling like a project and started looking for a tranny...has anyone else tried this in the last couple years?

I'll second what Andrew said: I've gotten used to my li'l 50 hp motor, which I bought used and installed in a busted Westy, but wouldn't do it again. I've learned tons about Diesels, but imagine having learned tons about 1.9's and turbos instead, AND being able to do 65 on the interstate!

Hi - no time to tinker, so no news - re-read much of Hoyt's links, and have only one question before I tear in and thoroughly test the system: http://www.4crawler.com/Diesel/GlowPlug.shtml says "early engines and turbo-charged engines use the slow glow system while later, non-turbo sengines use...

Okay - it's mid-May, and warm enough, and I still get more smoke than seems right. It's white smoke, for the most part. On occasion, it's been tinted black/gray, but I believe the engine was being revved up when still cold - it's not the first flush of smoke. That's pretty much white. On the amperag...

For reasons pertaining to my washing machine (everything lately's been broke), I had to go to Sears and so took my VW battery; they proved it bad, so I've skipped the tests recommended here and accepted a 100% free, no pro-ration DieHard.

Thanks, as always, for the help.

Life is good.

Excellent advise, as always....

I'm pretty convinced it's the battery, but will test as advised to be sure, and then just be happy I didn't, myself, mess something up...

here's something that just struck me - I've been installing a Hella auxiliary divider - when the alternator went, I disconnected all the Hella wires. The alt problem was mere days after the Hella install, and I wanted to insure I hadn't messed up something. However - as part of the Hella install, I ...

Battery Failure

Howdy - got a dead battery, for no apparent reason. Alternator tested weak (I don't remember details) so I replaced with Bosch. All was well for a couple weeks, then whilst driving off, the belt squealled. It stopped, but I then stoppped at a stoplight and saw smoke coming from the rear. I surmised ...

I've mounted it under the back seat; I partitioned the compartment and in the small new section have mounted the Hella unit, and also installed two remote battery terminals and a fuse block. None of it's live, yet... The IP solenoid's the one wire right on the back of the injector pump, correct? Is ...

Hella auxiliary battery divider

Hi -

I was wondering whether anyone's installed the auxiliary battery divider sold by Hella - the wee blue plastic box with the fuse. Mine's about in, but I need to select a keyed wire to tap into, and wondered what others have used.

Thanks!
