On my 260k NA engine I got about 35 in town and 45 on the highway, burning a q every 1000 miles or so. Right now I've got an '82 caddy with a rebuilt '86 TD in it. I get 35 in town and 40-45 on the highway, worse if I look at the boost gauge or drive fast. Mileage decreases markedly past 65 mph. 350...

Mine tracks along reasonably well. The most important part to me is how close to empty the gauge reading of empty is. :)

When I hit the red area my Caddy takes 10 Gal give or take a little bit. That's when I start looking for fuel.

The difference is between TDI and NA injectors as far as I know. The higher pressure injectors should give you better atomization of the fuel, a better burn and more power if anything.

I've never used the real tool but a 2" muffler clamp makes it a breeze. No difficulty at all. Off and back on in less than a minute.

I used a long 5mm allen key to get the retaining screw out, they came out very easy after that. Light pressure with a pair of pliers and they popped right out.

*Edit - That was wrong, it's a small torx. You need a 6" extension to get down in there.

Are you looking for an NA or TD motor? One is cheap and relatively easy to get, the other can be somewhat of a pain unless you're patient.

Have you done a compression and leak down check since you re-ringed it? You're looking for inconsistancies across the cylinders, the rings shouldn't have seated yet, but the pressures should (in theory) all be pretty close if the cylinders are good. Did you get the bores checked before you re-ringed...

As long as you've got OEM flywheel bolts I'd be pretty surprised it it was off at all. The bolts are pretty tight where they go through the flywheel.

The holes are offset so you can't assemble it wrong as well.
