Re: Do NOT buy Continental parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same goes for Meyle inner CV boots. German name on the box, but when you open it up, it has a tiny China sticker on it. They will crack within 1000 miles and be completely shot within 7000. I put 100,000 mile originals back on and have no problems. Really sad about the junk being sold today.

I've never had a problem with 11mm engines, and I've been driving VWs for 20 years. I don't use head studs either.

My engine puffs a little at idle, and uses a quart of oil every 1200 miles, but will still do 65 mph and delivers 52 mpg. I wouldn't be too concerned about compression numbers as long as your engine runs okay. I do have to cycle the glow plugs every time I start it, even if it only sits for five min...

I have between 5000 and 10000 miles since the tires were rotated. I do get an extremely slight wobble in the steering wheel at speeds below 10 mph, but it goes away at anything higher. I buy my tires used at the junkyard.

I swapped my front tires from left to right, and my car is now shake free. I have always read that with radials you are not supposed to change direction when rotating, but it worked for my car. I had rebalanced the tires previously and it made no difference.

Is the surface where the seal rides free of nicks, or is there a groove worn into the surface?

I put grease on my new seal to help lube it for the initial operation.

It works okay for me. I filled the two cavities with clear silicone to possibly make it a better setup. If you use silicone, do it in stages, instead of filling the cavity all up at once. If you do that, it might take a long time to dry, or never dry.

You need to jack up the engine slightly. Place a board between the jack and the oil pan to spread the load out, then raise the engine just enough to take the slack out of the mount. You will likely have to rotate the tensioner to help it get clear, as the bolt hole is off center.

I've only had the belt slip, and squeal if it is REALLY pouring rain. Otherwise, I don't see the need for one.

FWIW, I replaced my nozzles 12 years ago, which is well over 100,000 miles. I didn't do any testing, and I've never had any problems. My 1.6 liter got in the mid 40s for mileage, and my 1.5 liter currently gets 52 mpg with the same exact injectors.

Delco Diesel in Oklahoma is where I bought the kits. They are a diesel pump repair shop. If you have your pump rebuilt by them, they aren't cheap, but the kits they sell are.
