yeah, made it home easy on 3. funny thing was other then the slight shudder upon acceleration, couldn't really tell a huge difference. I have worked on bigger diesels when in school, and remembered being able to shut down the fuel to problem cylinders, so as not to put them under a load and cause mo...

broken hard line

If an injector hard line breaks, are there any temorary fixes? such as removing the metering valve from the back of the ip? Prob not.... Just trying to figure out a way to limp home 12 miles without spraying fuel everywhere.

Welcome. Where are you from? California? Based on what I have read about opacity, if you are only looking to pass an emissions test, then I would simply turn the full load screw counter clock wise until you have just enough power to get to where you need to go and back.

wow. I am very grateful for Hagars presence on this forum. He has inspired more critical thinking about the way these little cars run then I can begin to imagine. I am kind of an all or nothing guy. So here we go. This is regarding my 80 2 door dasher, with 105k miles on it, which I believe has the ...

I see, so you are essentially using the injector body to measure the springs "free height" at the point that resistance starts, and once the top half makes contact with the intermediate disc/spacer, and everything is sealed together, that would be the amount it compressed the spring, which...

Thanks. I was able to use a little piece of threaded rod from a butterfly bolt ground the threads off the end and used a die to put #4 threads on it. My timing was at .025"..... I'm pretty sure I have a yellow dot pump. Waiting on the new injector nozzles that I ordered before putting everythin...

adjusting injectors by hand?

I read hagars post, about the pitch of the threads, but I don't get it. You may be able to decrease breaking pressures, by not tightening the housing as much (at the risk of leaking), but with out lapping or changing shims I don't understand how you can increase pressures. Maybe I am misunderstandin...

dial indicator adapter question

Hey I have a favor to ask whoever can comply. I lost the adapter needle thing that threads into the dial indicator to set static timing, and am making a new one. Can someone please measure theirs sad tell me how long it needs to be? Or even better, how far it needs to protrude past the end of the th...

I went to advance and made them bring everything they had in stock to the counter, I then went through and found a good pair. But good news is that Carquest sells them new, not rebuilt, and only 20 bucks!

Try taking the springs and linkage off the top, and using a pair of vice grips to control throttle. It reminds me of something similar that happened to me. if you can't keep the revs down like that, then pull the cover oFf and put the springs on the gov shaft the way they look in the pictures. I thi...
