I heard the AAZ block is 4mm taller. Can anyone varify? And if for some weird reason 4mm means you can't use those that are used on the 1.6TD could you let m know. What I heard was there are two different ones 94 and 100mm but this has not been official and I can't find part numbers for them. (sure ...

That is exactly the information I needed. Thankyou. Being able to install and remove them as needed with the hex tool gives me reassurance. Now I just have to find them at decent price. I have looked through the forums for a part number or dimension but I have not seen anything conclusive for AAZ ex...

ARP studs in 1.9 van
I just got off the phone with a ARP stud supplier who wants $174.00CN for the set! Eeeeik! I guess I will order on-line. Does anybody know if stud might be a problem in terms of installing and pulling the head when it is on it's angled position in the Vanagon? I don't think it will work... (gut feel...

I have used the senders in electronic projects in the past.... very useful. They are what is known as a thermistor. They have the inverse resistance properties of a normal resistor (or a wire)..... as the thermistor heats, it's resistance goes down. Conversely when cold it's resistance is higher. Yo...

Use cold gas... like what is it? Butane.... or what I use is the liquid air upside down. Spray the liquid on the race and it will shrink I promise. Heating the race makes it expand and stick more. Don't use a chisel or a punch. Use something that is tough and round as a punch (pipe, socket) .... som...

You might post photos of your new hose setup so we can see that all is correct with water flow. The cool water form the heater for example should flow through the expansion tank before the thermostat so it gets heated a bit and does not cause the thermo to cool too much (thus holding the thermo clos...

You might have somehow damaged the wire from the head temp sensor when working on your strarter (if the bendix does that again and repeats, change it right away... I had mine rebuilt for $25-30). You should try disconnecting it and pressing it to electrical ground (the block or body). You should get...

I think your/ my starter is less strong when it's warm... it sounds crazy but I have noticed the starter seems to draw more after the starter is warm. For a while I had my battery under the front seat (with a long 00 wire) not knowing how bad that is... seemed obvious to me what the trouble with the...
