Unfortunately, my belt solution has failed. Not sure exactly why, but the belt is gone. Pulley is still in place and tight.
Guess I'll go back to the OEM "solution".

I do have the tensioner tool, I tried to use it but the clearance are too tight. I pushed this pulley into place by hand. I aligned the pulley so that the offset is as far away from other pulleys as possible, but also adjusted the stock pulley tensioner bolt (13mm - the bolt that is impossible to re...

Is this finally the FIX!????
This is my fix. Total cost $12 for a new belt. Here we go. Go to your favorite parts store and get a Gates 7260 belt. This belt is 1" shorter than the normal belt which is a 7270. The widths are the same. Remove the stock tensioner (I do recommend keeping it in case you back out of this modific...

Thanks FM. I have read some prior posts about removing the AC from a MK2 and you had posted previously the same response - that you thought a MK1 NON-AC bracket would hit the radiator but wasn't sure. This is why I'm directly asking this question to attempt to get an for sure answer. I have removed ...

Mk2 Jetta AC REMOVAL
I'm really trying to ask a question that has not been asked. But, there are tons of posts on the topic and I basically have one question. I have an 1986 Diesel Jetta NA. I also have the non-AC bracket from a MK1. If I remove the existing bracket from the Jetta and put the MK1 bracket in will the 65 ...

Just did this
I just finished this job. 86 Jetta. It is pretty bad. Have to disconnect exhaust from the manifold. I didn't do anything else with the exhaust - so it was pretty tight. Removed exhaust heat shield. Have to undo bolts (4) underneath vehicle to lower the shifter box assembly. Getting it out at this po...

I actually DO have this magically tool. I've posted this before, but when I use the tensioner tool to test timing belt tension it ends up being somewhere BETWEEN 45 to 90 degrees. Too tight has problems as does too loose. I know of no conversion of the markings on the tool to any usable units. I've ...

Individual Wires
I installed a system with an individual wire to each glow plug. All wires run to the #4 glow plug. It is true there is VERY little room to install all the wires on that one glow plug along with the incoming power wire. The nut only goes about half way on. I'll look into this "power distribution...
