Re: best exhaust system for a n/a diesel with performance pu

Start with a dual outlet exhaust manifold [I have one for sale !] then 2" pipe all the way. Using good quality, thick pipe will help to cut down resonance. Them an oem quality GLI muffler

Re: Excess Exhaust Issue

If you have so much smoke coming out of that "breather "pipe, your ,engine is finished. There should be a negligible amount of crankcase smoke . Your mechanic put a bandaid on a much bigger issue. If you believe the engine is still good, do a search for the original style breather system f...

Re: 300,000 kms on VO

Just an update. Opened up the pump today on the 98 AHU that i bought from an old customer i had done the conversion on which has done just over 100,000kms on VO. Pump shows no internal wear at all, and other than a small brown discoloration which wiped clean, looked like it always ran on clean diese...

300,000 kms on VO

Just wanted to mention that between my old 98 TDI [now owned by a good friend] ,my 1990 Transporter , and another 98 TDI i bought from an old customer , have now racked up around 300,000 kms on VO, all with 2 tank systems i installed . Absolutely zero issues from running on VO. The 98 i just picked ...

Re: 1.9na swap in a vanagon

ideally you may want to source out a VW industrial engine with code ADG . That model has piston oilers and the uprated TDI crank pulley. Less chance of any problems that plague the 1.9 . Otherwise find an AAZ which were on 93-97 Golf and Jetta diesels, and strip the turbo off. I had to get my intake...

Re: 1.9na swap in a vanagon

That's what i've been running in mine for the last 2 1/2 years. I strongly suggest a couple of things. Read and learn on how to get the most performance out of your injection pump. There is lots of info here and on http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/. Source out the original 1Y intake manifold or get a h...

I tried to get onto Vag-cat, but there is a log in problem. As far as i can see though, they do show different pistons. But a call to my local supplier for all things VW & Audi doesn't list different pistons or heads.Unless you are going for big horsepower, i wouldn't worry about it.

Could also be the valve cover was over tightened and is slightly warped, not allowing the sealing surfaces to seal. Very good chance of this. The cover leaks over the years, people tighten up the nuts to the point that the cover and tension bars get so warped that replacing the gasket does nothing....

No matter what ,halving your oil changes is a must, one of the only draw backs to running on VO. But it won't help coke build up on the injectors and combustion chambers from too much soy oil.
