support bracket for turbo
Thanks for the response. On the flange with the plate do you have to change the length of the studs on the turbo, I assume that is a stud, one of mine is broken off, how hard is it to take those nuts off without busting them? Thanks again for your help.

turbo support bracket?
I have a westie with a 1.6 turbo and the turbo needs support brackets or something because it keeps vibrating the exhaust nuts loose. I have tried double nuts on the exhaust mainfold and no luck. What have other folks done to prevent this? I do not know enough to tell what kind of turbo I have.

vanagon fuel gauge
The temp gauge works fine. When I fill up the tank to full the fuel gauge registers and up to about a3/4 of a tank. I am guessing I am going to have to drop the tank . Thanks for the input. Irene

need help, pulled head
I sent my head off to be rebuilt and they said that the hole in the head where the exhaust stud had gone thru was from someone drilling out a broken stud and had drilled thru into the water jacket, [reminds me of a bad root canal] also that the head had more than 20k worth of wear on it. The head is...

how to pull engine in vanagon
What are some of the ways to remove the engine? With or without trans? Thought about making a hoist with blocks and a com-a-long or should I go rent a cherry picker? Wheres the weight balance when pulling both engine and trans and where to put the chain? I think I will need to replace the drive seal...

need help, pulled head
I took the head to the local machinist today and he seems to think it could be fixed with using red loctite on a new stud and maybe helicoil it. It looks like someone over tightened and it came thru the water jacket. I can see the end of the stud in the water jacket port by the head surface. The onl...
