An easy way to find TDC : Make a pointer from wire from your block to your crank pulley. On cyl #1, have both camlobes pointing upwards. Turn the crank counter clockwise away from #1 TDC about 45 degrees, put a spacer (a piece of 1/4" key stock) between the intake valve lifter and cam lobe of #...

Hi daves, does it make the same sound when you keep the clutch pedal down( tranny in first gear) and rev it up, sometimes when the radial springs in your clutch plate are worn and loose, you can hear them rattle. If it still rattles, it's something else. Is your timing belt too loose? Yea, the V not...

It is probably a good idea, let it run for at least a couple of hours to clean it self out. It sounds like it is working correctly. Hope that you don't have a mouse nest in there that could catch fire.

Hi Steve, I think that the fuel pump would still work the same if you switched the wires.
I hope that switching the pumps will help.

Hi Steve, it looks to me that you are getting way too much fuel. Try to run it with one fuel pump disconnected and see what happens, then reconnect the pump and disconnect the other pump and run it again. Can you see a difference? I wonder if the small output pump has been connected to the big outpu...

Here is my home made valve seat grinder that uses a Dremel and small stones. If you know somebody with a small lathe you can easely make this. I made a guide that fits tight in a new reamed valve guide and use this to resurface the seat, make sure that you weld the nut at a 45 degree angle. I have s...

Hi Steve, I didn't know that you had the later type glow plug, you can take your high voltage coil out and insulate the terminals of the Violet wire and the Yellow/ Black wire. There should be a wire in the electrical plug of your combustion air blower that goes to both your fuel pumps.( the points ...

You probably don't have power steering, it came as an option. Look under your van at the steering rack, are there any hydraulic lines coming from it?

Hi Mark, I was just wondering how you are going to mount the injection pump to a gasser block.
There are no mounting bosses there.

You forgot to mention if this is a 1.6TD or a 1.9TD? I assumed it was a 1.6 TD.

If you mean converting your block, no, nothing will fit, you will have to find a complete TDI engine and swap it.

WTB, flywheel for an Audi 5000, doesn't have to be in good shape.
