thanks for the info. I went ahead and ordered the nozzles today. The next question is what is the best tool for removing the injectors? it seems like a big deep socket would be the way to go. anyone know what size is right for this?

okay, well that makes sense. I went and got heat shields today and inquired about nozzles. there is a break between '80 and '81 nozzles apparently, and while I have a '81 rabbit, I believe it has a '80 engine (1.5L). do you know whether they might be interchangable or which might be preferable.

cleaning injectors

Recently my bunny has started smoking more and losing some power, and I am thinking that it may be injector trouble. I am planning on cleaning the injectors out, does anyone have any tips on this project? Can i do this job without replacing any parts other than the heat shields? I run up to 50% biod...

How to fix my gauges

I have the frankenstein of gauge clusters in my rabbit. The odometer doesn't run at the right speed, the fuel gauge doesn't work ( although it may be the sending unit) etc. Any thoughts on where to find a new one? Or if I wanted to would it be possible to install aftermarket gauges? A digital thermo...

How to fix my roof

A friend of mine got drunk and jumped on on the roof of my rabbit. The metal is all exposed, so I immediately (two days later) noticed that the support beams that run from one side of the roof to the other had been bent down and come disconnected from the ceiling. There is also fair amount of rust o...

it is in fact a 5 speed. thanks for the link. so if i understand it correctly, when the fluid is to the plug, it is full to 1.5 liters. after that, it should be filled .5 more liters through the speedometer cable hole. Will running it at three quarters full hurt the tranny? will i notice a differenc...

okay, so now i'm getting a little confused. After again removing the drain plug, i found fluid to only barely be dripping out. there was an initial burst, then a very slow flow. It did not seem as though anywhere near .5 quarts came out. So i drained the fluid out and refilled through the spedometer...

alright, now that I have gotten myself a 17mm allen, I have a new problem. As I understand it, the Manual transmission can be checked by removing the tranny fill plug, and checking if the oil level is even with the edge of the hole. However, when I removed the plug, fluid came pouring out! Did I rem...

thanks a lot for doing that for me. I called my local dealer but they can't get it. why do they have to make these parts so damn strange? wouldn't it be nice if every bolt and nut were some standard size? oh well, on to the junkyards...

rabbit transmission drain plug?

Anyone know where I can find a new transmission drain and fill plug for my 81 rabbit? I am afraid that I will destroy them when I try to remove them.

I know it has been a little while on this one, but I just wanted to let you all know that having replaced some hoses, the water pump, radiator and thermoswitch, it all seems to be good now. I have driven probably 1000 miles in the last two weeks, and it doesn't overheat at all. thanks for all the he...
