Rebuilding a pump for my 92 Golf NA... it was actually a pump that I got on from a shop that rebuilds them. It was missing the cap and hardware that covers the timing piston on the back side. I have part to go on there from a spare pump, but I'm just wondering how to index it to the shaft that bears...

1/4 turn is 1/4 turn... so it shouldn't make a difference if the engine is cold or hot. Just wondering if the vane pump assembly from a '79 1.5 rabbit would work in a injection pump for 92 n/a. I think the impeller and outer ring are machined as a matched set, so I'd be swapping both components... but I'm not sure if they're the same dimensionally over those years. Thanks in advance!

The coolant resevoir has a sensor/switch which signals low coolant and gives a blinking light. It is set to come on right around the min mark, so if you're a close to "min" any side to side movement of the car will make it come on... for example on a exit ramp. Try adding some coolant! Jake
