Re: parting 86 diesel golf

Looking for a speedometer and clock cluster or just the plastic circuit sheeting behind both. Mine has a tear so instrument lights won't work.

Re: Brake Master Cylinder

Does it matter what bore I buy. I noticed some have a 20 inch bore while others have a 13/16 inch bore?

Re: Brake Master Cylinder

Tried tightening the flange nut but am afraid of stripping the head with too much force. Anyone know what the torque setting would be on a brake line flare nut? Will check O'Reileys out and see what they are offering.

Brake Master Cylinder

Looking to replace my brake master cylinder, it has a slight leak from one of the rear brake line attachment at the main cylinder. Noticed lots of different manufacturers. Prices range from $35 to $200, nothing special no ABS, just a 1986 1.6 Diesel. I was told not to buy a remanufactured but that i...

Re: Want to buy: Air cleaner housing ?1986 Jetta Non turbo 068129607D

I found the 4th clip but I noticed that there should be an insulated rubber hose with a 11" diameter that fits on th 90 degree elbow to the wheel well attachment. My hose is pretty rotten but there seems to be a metal flex tubing under the rubber insulation. I am sure you could make something w...

Re: Want to buy: Air cleaner housing ?1986 Jetta Non turbo 068129607D

Will be going to the post office to find a box and ask how much shipping cost will be. Just want to clarify that I do not have the bottom of the air box, just the cover, elbow and wheel well attachment. Will also be looking for the 4th clip, was shocked to see the clips for sale at $9 dollars each pl...

Re: Oil pouring out of valve cover

I had a similar problem, changed my valve cover out and used the newer rubber gasket and oil poured out as if there was a crack in my head. Loosing quarts of oil at a time. Turned out that there is a small rubber U shaped gasket that seats at the end of the cover was not in place. An easy fix but an...

Re: Want to buy: Air cleaner housing ?1986 Jetta Non turbo 068129607D

Yes, I have the part that attaches to the inside wheel well too. I need to look for the 4th clip that holds the cover to the box but 3 will still work. I will go to the post office to let you know how much shipping will be. I'll take $10 for the whole set up plus shipping cost just glad I can be of ...

Re: Want to buy: Air cleaner housing ?1986 Jetta Non turbo 068129607D

I have the cover with 3 of the 4 latches that hold it to the box, plus the 90 degree elbow and the attachment to the wheel well. I can look around for the 4th latch if you are still interest. I do not have the box the filter seats in just the cover, elbow and attachment. It is yours for whatever you ...

Turn signals not working.

!986 Golf Diesel turn signals not working but the hazard lights work. Bulbs are all good, the green light comes on the cluster but will not blink. Wondering if it could be the relay except the hazard lights blink and I think it runs off the same relay as the turn signals. Could the relay still be ba...

Free Engine Mounts

Free engine mounts just pay for shipping. Replaced all 3 of my mounts on my 1986 Golf Diesel and the originals look fine. A muffler shop told me my exhaust pipes were rattling due to my engine mounts and I replaced them and the pipes still rattle. Old mounts had 20,000 miles on them and can not dete...

Re: 1.6 N/A exhaust pipe size, and mufflers?

I found a new aero turbine exhaust muffler for $50 which was a 2.5 intake. Had it mounted to the rear and it was setting off car alarms and way too loud to deal with. The turbine smooths out and quiets down on the open highway but city driving and parking decks was irritating loud. I quieted it down...
