Hi,
I need a handbrake from a 1981 VW pickup. The spring/rod inside my handbrake went awol and I basically need the assembly that attaches to the two cables from inside the car.
Anyone have one?

Re: 1st and Reverse Gear Grind
Everything looks good after checking the linkage and the mounts.... Not sure where to go from here?
I have now confirmed that the problem occurs whenever the vehicle is on an incline.

1st and Reverse Gear Grind
Hi Everyone, Two years ago I replaced the original transmission in my 81 pickup with a five speed jetta transmission. Since then I have had no problems but lately my transmission has been grinding. Ever so often when I am taking off from a stop first gear slips out and makes a horrible grinding nois...

Vibrating pedal with brief power loss
Hi everyone, My 1981 pickup has recently been acting strangely. Earlier this week I noticed the accelerator pedal was vibrating while driving, to the point where my foot started to almost go numb. The vibration continues even when the engine is warmed up. Also, I have noticed that whenever I shift g...

Righ rear drum leaking
Hi Guys, My pickup sat for a week while I was out of town and when I returned and tried to run a quick errand I noticed the brake light was on and I had no brakes! I checked the fluid and found very little in the reservoir and upon a quick inspection I can see fluid all over the interior side of the...

Dead fuel gauge
I recently power washed my engine and since then the fuel gauge hasn't worked. I remember reading something about how the fuel gauge runs on the same circuit as the temp gauge, but my temp gauge is fine. I am getting zero movement from the gauge so it looks like it isn't getting any power. The wirin...

Will an AON transmission fit my 81 Pickup?
Hi guys, I need a new transmission for my 1981 Pickup and I like the gearing on an AON that I found. I have an FN in my Pickup right now. Will I have any problems getting the transmission to fit? Will I need to install a larger clutch as well? Also, I am considering installing my .71 5th gear. Do I ...

Bad wheel bearing?
I have noticed a loud and continuous hum and growling that beings at 35 mph. It is worse at around 55 mph. I believe the noise is coming from the front driver side wheel and it is driving me nuts. I have also noticed that whenever I make a left turn at speeds around 45 mph (merging, exiting freeway)...

Brakes: The latest problem
Hi guys, My front driver side brake caliper is making noise. It appears that the seals that surround the two silver cylinder bolts have worn out. When the bolts are tight I am still able to shake the caliper, producing a loud noise that is wonderful to listen to on the road. Is this common? What is ...

Bad turn signals
My turn signals are not flashing. Whenever I signal, the signals stay solid but don't flash.
I assume this means I have a bad flasher? Are these generic parts are vw specific?
Thanks guys, I am getting tired of hand signaling!

Windshield Wipers: Unresponsive
For some odd reason, the wipers have given up the ghost. I am not sure if it is the control lever or an electrical problem, but regardless of the lever position they are not moving. The washer fluid function is also inoperable.
Any ideas? I pulled the relay and didn't notice anything unusual.

I was able to procure a rotary pump. With all the money I have been wasting on rebuild kits for my old pump, I could have purchase two rotary pumps...... Anyway, I love the look of the rotary pump under the hood and it installed in seconds. I will need to pick up a T to tie in the unused hose, but I...
