I know for a fact that the Corrado had a nice looking aluminum valve cover or something of that sort. Some people put them on their Diesels. You would be correct. :D http://www.ziptar.com/eco_carat_project/eng_comp_800x600.jpg When I put mine on I used the existing studs and removed the metal space...

Yes, a heated intake can help cold starts. Cummins B Series engines use an "Intake Air Heater" that kicks on below a certain temperature. The B Series engines don't have glow plugs however and they are DI. For that matter with a fully charged battery and healthy starter a VW DI will light ...

If you search the vortex (MkII Forum) there are a couple of how to threads for swapping the VW bases onto the Audi seats. Safer / Sturdier than cutting and welding frames.

It was a while ago, they may be archived threads by now.

The wiring changed part way through 1989 (exact month varies by model) from CE1 to CE2. The axles are t...

You can use the VW Sandwich Cooler on the VW filter housing, they work great. As for the nipple to thread it together. the original site is gone but if you google for Eckes WT you'll find some info about it, mostly German. Another way to go is to use the sandwich cooler from a Volvo 740 on the VW fi...

I built a single tank setup for my 03 TDI 3-4 years ago. I lived in Florida at the time so I could get away with it year round. I used a coolant / fuel heat exchanger and a vegtherm from plantdrive.com . The setup worked well, started easy enough, smoked a bit but once it warmed up it was perfect, W...

Ditch the Pentosin (mineral oil). Last year I started using Mobil 1 Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid. Works great, it is actually better for the seals as they swell a bit so less leaks. I originally got the idea when I had my Audi Quattro, I read about it on an Audi forum. The Audi racks use P...

Just do as Bentley says, keep the tranny pointed down at an angle and everything will lift right out. When I was removing the gasser to swap the TD in the Carat I used the jack up the car and drop the engine with a floor jack method. It worked but, I had stripped it pretty much down to a bare long b...
