Pilot Bearing
I am converting from 1.6na diesel vanagon to 1.8 K-Jet engine from Golf/Rabbit Mk1 - I have read that I will need to use a pilot/spiggot bearing on the end of input shaft. Can anyone shed any light on this part, explanations, possibly pics and vw part number. Much appreciated.

Just had a thought - how come the 1.6na inlet manifold will fit onto the aaz but not onto the 1Y - also, if the 1.6 exhaust fits onto either rngine, then the manifolds must be the same size where they bolt to the head. Doesn't this automatically dictate the size/rate of exhaust gas flow, as the inte...

1Y question - again!!!
Sorry folks if I'm being a pain in the ass - I promise I am trying to do as much research as I can before I come on here, but I keep coming up against lose ends - the internet isn't always that wonderful. Anyway, knowing the engine code that you want for a conversion, in this case probably a 1Y - ho...

Seen some 1Y engines on fleebay, the inlet manifold seems huge - this isn't a turbo right? I think it comes from a caddy SDi - I'm hoping, for simplicity, that I can just use my 1.6na manifolds and basically everything else from 1.6 too. Basically, most of the ancillary parts from my current engine ...

Anyone put a 1Y engine code into a vanagon???
I want to put an AAZ in to replace my weedy 1.6na but will have whole load of issues with turbo (manifolds, clearance, oil return etc etc) so I wandered if ayone has used the 1Y and if it is basically the same as using the AAZ without the turbo, or is it totally different. I have 5speed gearbox and ...

Alternator
Libbypapa, can you help. I have a 65 amp alternator from my diesel vanagon and want to use it on petrol mk1 1.8 8v - I know the diesel one has an extra W terminal for diesel tacho, but apart from that and getting the correct pulley size, are the two interchangeable. I know this is a big ask, but you...

Andrew - you are correct in what you say - that video definately should be banned  I am committing the ultimate sin and putting a petrol engine into my van - reusing as many of the diesel parts as I can to match it, but wanted to block off the sump filler pipe and use the head cover from petrol...

rocker cover - simple question
Hi all, can anyone tell me why the rocker/cam cover on the 1.6 na diesel does not have a cap for filling the engine with oil from there and instead has a fabricated pipe the goes straight to the sump. I thought it might be because the engine is at 50 deg angle and so hot oil would affect the cap - b...
