performance exhaust for diesels

Anyone know if a header from a gas engine will fit the diesels? Other performance exhaust mods known to work?

Thanks

Hi all, Good luck with your projects. My buddy Chris, last night tried to tighten the steering column bearing using the VW method (loosen clamp, pull wheel-tighten clamp) and said it had no effect. Under the steering wheel on my truck, there is a what appears to be a piece of molded white nylon tubi...

Dash noise and vibrations.. un-official noise control thread

Done plenty of reading on the subject as mandated by the incredible roar my caddy made when idling. Seems a common problem that even consumer reports complained of when reviewing the pickup 25 years ago. The common fix has been to bump the idle revs up to 12-1500 rpm to smooth the beast out, but the...

My engine had 3.5 thou piston to cylinder wall clearance when torn down. The max spec is 2.5 thou.

This engine ran fine with no bad noises etc. My bet is new rings with good oil will last a long time.

yep...heat them with a torch until they barely glow red and quench them in water.

This will anneal them (make real soft) and they will seal again.
we routinely do this to copper sealing washesr on aircraft sparkplugs.

Hi, Yes i lubed the splines with the supplied lube. The vib is only present when the clutch pedal is moving. If at any point in the clutch stoke, the pedal is held motionless, there is absoulutley no vibration or noise. Baffleing. This trans has a newer pushrod, different from the last one, differen...

correst. no noise when the pedal is not moving. only noise/vib when clutch pedal is in motion. Noise is worse when there is more force pressing on pedal.

noisy vibrating clutch pedal....

my caddy with a 4 speed was plaged by noise whenever the clutch pedal was in motion. A buzzing sound that seems to eminate from the firewall and clearly felt in the clutch pedal. The new five speed does exactly the same thing. I installed a new throw out bearing just for good measrure and a new clut...

5 speed oil level?

Hi guys, My caddy project continues... Now with 2000 miles on the rebuild and brand new injectors, it really runs great. Wonderful smileage, starts with an snap and no more jet fuel smells from leaking injectors. I just dropped the perfectly good 4 speed and installed a used 5 speed FN trans, prayin...

Leaking IP lines

So I've been plagued by leaks from the injectors and lines. I bought new injectors, tightened down the lines and and and .... it would not run. Why, because all the lines were spraying fuel at the unions on top of the injectors. Trying tightening several times but never got a single one to seal. I f...
