Diesel engine mount

A funny thing happened. My caddy aged. As it did, it got louder and louder. When cold, the vibration caused racket inside the cab was incredible. Every tiny part beating against its neighbor. Change rattled, in the ashtray. it would subside slightly as the rubber mounts warmed up but wow.. Deafening...

Re: fuel mileage

Don't forget... These VE pumps wear out. They do some magic called ignition timing and we and can't see it, only hear it. I found a HUGE difference when installing a new pump and new injectors. More power, way smoother, quieter and a nice smooth sound. Lousy mileage? Look at replacing these items if...

Hard starting problem ....solved

My new pump has always been hard to start after sitting overnight. Classic symptoms of the pump draining overnight. I tried all the easy fixes to no avail, and this is what fixed it for me. Installing an inline fuel primer bulb between the filter and the IP. The primer bulb has little check valves i...

Yep, put in new pistons and rings and it will run fine for a long time. I'd bet you'd get at least another 100,000 miles out of it. Pleanty of time to find a younger block. Use Mobil One turbo Diesel Truck oil for min wear.

excessive timing advance as well.

retard your timing a bit a see if it goes away. I set my timing to clatter at high rpm. It reminds me to shift, and runs well.

Normal sound for a worn out trans. The gears whip at low rpm due to play in the input shaft and gears.

solution, new trans or hold the clutch in.

Most big rig truck do this, as did my first trans. No harm will be done, just annoying noise. Try a different trans.
Also higher rpm will quiet them.

Bad ground? Alternator is overvolting due to bad ground and cooking electronics.
check ground wire from alternaotr to battery.
