Quantum TD wrote:Frequency valve. If your control pressure is zero, or 70-80, then your frequency valve may be stuck closed or open (not sure which). They're easy to replace, and no need to buy new.

I just sold a Holley 2 barrel carburetor and intake off an early Omni that came with the Rabbit motor for $20. I don't know if they were any good or not but that might be an option too if you can find one. I know a guy who was having trouble with the CIS injection on his Cabriolet and he switched it...

That's it. It has 2 braided fuel lines and 2 wires going to it. That video was taken in colder weather. It fired right up when it was warm outside but I couldn't touch the gas pedal until it warmed up or it would quit. If I plugged the block heater in for a half hour of so before i tried to start it...

That has CIS fuel injection, right? I had the same problem with my 89 GLI (with 85 engine and fuel injection swap) and it was the control pressure regulator on the front of the motor. I took it apart and cleaned it and it cured the problem. Here's a video of what mine was doing. http://www.youtube.c...

My 85 Jetta Coupe has over 756,000 kms on the body but the original motor was replaced at around 470,000 kms. The original transmission lasted until 595,000 kms. It's getting a paint job and a TD transplant as we speak.

I could have ordered one for my GLI from the local VW dealer last year but it was pricey, around $180 if I'm not mistaken.

Also, if you're running alloy wheels with the longer wheel studs and have a steel wheel for a spare make sure to have shorter studs with you to use with the spare. I never realized the alloys had the longer wheel studs and when I blew a tire early one morning and put the steel spare on I heard click...

He does have a couple other TD Jettas he could pull the pulley off of. Worse case scenario, we'll get rid of the power steering.

Thanks. I was hoping the gasser one was the same since I already have one but I see it's different. So I guess I have the choice of getting the proper pulley or leaving it as it is and running a shorter belt from the crank pulley directly to the PS pump.

Belt setup on a 1990 Jetta TD

My brother's Jetta has been destroying AC belts with a couple hundred kms (first one broke, second one wore really fast) and we're trying to figure out why. The PS belt was off when he got it and the car had been sitting for a while. Does anyone have any pics/ diagrams of the belt setup on a 1990 Je...

I converted my 89 GLI to an automatic for my wife a while back. I used the transmission from an 85 Jetta. It seemed tough enough and I did quite a bit of towing with it but I'll never own another one. The starter is in a terrible spot to get at and are known to have problems. I only put around 12,00...
