Where's this connector go into the fusebox?

Pix http://www.pbase.com/kneale_brownson/image/115789858.jpg is of a connector with a fairly heavy ( whatever metric lies between a 12 and 14 gauge) red wire and connector that plugs into the back of the fuse panel in a '95 Jetta TD. The connector is the type that grips a projection on the INSIDE of...

Further problem: I started taking the connectors out of the back of the fuse panel thinking I'd take it out of the car and examine for signs of a short, and realized half way through that I might not be able to get them back in properly, so I reversed direction. I have all the multiple wire connecto...

Have you jumpered the clutch to see if it will engage with external power? Your high pressure switch may be preventing it from engaging if your pressure is too low (low charge) or too high (clogged condensor or lines). If it still won't engage with external power, then I guess you could try the clu...

If I'm reading your post correctly, you removed one (or both) taillights from the circuit and still have continuity between ground and the hot wires. If you have not removed the front bulbs and sidemarkers from the circuit, you will read close to a short to ground because of the resistance of the f...

Thanks, all. I have the bulb holder ELIMINATED from the circuit by unplugging the power feed connector to the driver tail light from the bulb holder. That's the part of the rear wiring harness that brings power from the front to each of the elements in the tail light fixture. I have continuity from ...

Would the front bulbs be involved if I only have the brake pedal depressed? I'm finding continuity between the rear ground points in the trunk and the contacts inside the power feed connector that plugs into the left tail light bulb holder. I get continuity between those grounds and each of the wire...

'95 Jetta TD tail light wiring problems

Chasing down the whatever causing my weird taillight performance: I've cleaned up all the trunk grounds that a couple years ago caused a similar symptom with the tail lights without getting the solution I got then. I've determined there is continuity between ground and the contacts of the bulb holde...

A/C clutch replacement

Is it possible to replace the magnetic clutch on the A/C compressor on a 1995 Jetta TD? The clutch isn't engaging. I'd like to avoid going through all the evac/flush/replace-expensive-drier/etc. procedure in order to replace the whole compressor just because the clutch isn't functioning. I've replac...

They've told me they do not carry parts for the Canadian versions of VW diesels. Only for those sold in the US, which leaves out the mid-1990 VW diesels.

WTB 1994 Jetta driver door parts

I need a driver door grabhandle assembly, including at least one of the two screws that fasten it to the door frame.

I could use the door card including the handle.

Also need one of the little flat-head alan screws that fasten the door card.

Glow Plug Sources for 1994 Jetta TD

I think I need new glow plugs. They fail the test light test where you put a test light between the battery positive terminal and the glow plug. Where can I purchase the correct glow plugs? I've been told the N 102 130 02 glow plug is no longer available and the newer, faster glow plugs require a di...

Best practice in the glow plug department seems to be Bosch Duraterms ... designed for both slow and fast glow systems, self-limiting from a temperature and current perspective, and with an excellent reputation on the web for performance and lifespan. Is there a Bosch part number for the "Dura...

I thought the keyway problem was attributed to the bolt, and the newer bolts were supposed to clear up the problem????

Testing Block Heater

My block heater quit functioning during the winter.

Is it like an electric water heater element that can burn out with age/use/corrosion? Should I be able to check for continuity through a good element with a multimeter connected to the two sides of the plug?

Any other tests?
