Does it really mean Wolfsburg Edition? I'm thought all MKII Jettas came with the emblem. The emblem does have the Wolfsburg crest on it, but I've seen Carat model Jettas, and GLi's with the emblem, and the Wolfsburg Edition Jettas had a circular "Wolfsburg Edition" emblem elsewhere on the ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Square_screws

This will give you a good idea of what they look like compared to Torx.

The 12 point (or Triple Square) is what VW used before Poly-Drive and after internal Hex Head for head bolts.

12 point is also used on your inner CV to trans flange bolts.

You posted "the head on the torx got striped"

Did you use a Torx or triple square to remove the head bolts?

The pump bolts have always busted for me as well--on VW gassers too. I spend the few extra dollars for the pump AND housing.

Keep at it!

I've been using Gold Eagle DieselPower! Anti-Gel and Fuel Treatment

Nothing special, and priced the same as the CRC/Gumout type products

On gasser VWs, I've been using the TTY factory head bolts since 1989--never used lube, of any kind, on the threads. Only had problems with come-backs with the early jobs, when I wasn't as carefull checking the head for flatness and making sure the area around where the HG fire-rings bite, on both th...

IIRC in 87 the US national speed limit was lifted from 55, to state regulated limits. In the 70ies, when the 55 limit was imposed most manuafcturers shipped cars with the 85 MPH top end. Though I've been in several exotics from 55 mph period and they had speedos over 160MPH. When I was a kid I just ...

I searched high and low, but can't find the kit I'm recalling in my moldy old, VW research materials. Then, wham! The picture of exactly what I remembered the spacer was shaped like in Jasons posting--but the spacer I recall was black epoxy coated, and the company name was not the same. I do recall ...

Are these blocks, aluminum, and wedged between coils of the front springs--held in place by threaded hooks?

I know a company back in the early 80ies sold a kit to raise the rabbit p/u--for the front they used a spacer on the strut bearing. Haven't seen these since I was in high school, though.

Re: synthetic "makes" oil leaks

Some say Syn oil makes an engine leak I assume the synthetic is thinner. A syn at 10 30 should have the same thickness (viscosity) as a dino at 10 30, both at the same temps--right? Otherwise, why have viscosity numbers. From years ago (late 70ies) when Syns became more available, the leaks issue w...

If you are near Portland, stop in at Positive Energy (behind the Maine Turnpike Authority offices at 420 Riverside, you'll see the bright green 50 gallon drums and diesel VWs and Mercs)--they are gearing up to do commercial quantities of biodiesel. Jarmin, the cool owner, should be able to give you ...

Unless you have a A-2 head..... Did all A2 hyd heads have the plastic camshaft spray cover--this head doesn't. Its pretty covered in grudge, it looks like there is a sticker on the valve cover like the one with the line through the side view of the follower bucket (as I recall it from the mid 80ies...
