Re: Another Alternator Belt Tensioner - 3VX belts?

Having gone through most of these fixes before finding the one that worked, I'm surprised to not have found it here after all this time, hence the thread resurrection. SPZ profile belts; it's the metric standard they were designed for, and nothing else will work for very long. http://www.gnuttiborto...

The Elsbett kits are nice, but beyond the level of cost-effectiveness I think most VO burners are looking for. They don't do anything about the IV values either. I'm using "Diesel Kleen with Cetane Boost" by Powerservice for the cetane improver. I blend it with the VO before adding the #2 ...

data's in...

The three main factors affecting longevity in 1.6na diesels would be; 1. increased viscosity of vegoil and vegoil blends and their effect on injector pumps and fuel atomization. 2. the iodine value of the different oils that are being used- these affect polymerization rates, volatility, and atomizat...

I'm sorry this isn't a definitive answer, but when i had just started my shop where i was converting vehicles to run on VO , i had some one come in with their F350. He had done a decent conversion, but was having running issues- poor idle, intermittent low power etc. He had been getting all his WVO ...

polymerization (coking) when using vo blends?

Please keep it civil AND reasonably documented... I've begun running soybean oil blended with #2 diesel in various ratios- mostly chosen to keep acceptable viscosities in varying temperatures. A serious long term concern might be the formation of engine deposits, even with a pre-chamber type diesel,...

The results are in!

Best 1985 Golf 1.6na alternator belt is.... Contitech AVX 10x675 (euro made) 10x660 is too short (I've got one to sell if anyone's looking) 10x685 works well but is unneccesarily long The old euro belts seem to be of much better quality than the others; found a source over on Ebay- he goes by "...

group 65 battery in a MKII golf?

group 41 is standard but it looks like a 65 might fit
Has anyone done this? i'm thinking about a die hard platinum (agm type) and this is the closest in terms of size.

Often the best belt, the one that will last the longest, will require me to take the whole alternator off and put it back on with the belt,... it's that short. Thanks, thats the line of reasoning I was going with. The original Dayco (11x695) the parts store sold me is out to the end of its tether a...

I was looking at the Contitech fitment site-it's in German- and noticed 2 belts listed for GolfII 1.6d and 1.6td. They are 685mm and 700mm, NO 695. Could it be that the 685 is the better fitment? It would be tight to get on, but the idler pulling the belt out of contact with the pulley would become ...
