Re: 85 Golf 4-dr needs new left window seal
Been done once; can probably be done again. It did split right down the middle, but where there's a will, eh?!

85 Golf 4-dr needs new left window seal
I searched the forum and looked over Jack's stock; didn't find it. The last ice storm caused my old, oft' repaired one to rip from one end to the other. If I can't find a new one for a "reasonable price" then I figured someone on this forum would have tried a novel approach. I love my car ...

Re: For Sale: 1.6NA diesel injection pump lot
Hello! Fatmobile told me about you. I need a throttle / governor control assembly. The thin metal rod that hold the springs in-place has broken. it's maybe about 10 cm long and 2 mm wide and have grooves cut in it to hold the spring retaining circlips in place. Thanks! Michael, Eugene, OR., USA

Re: Revs decrease slowly - post IP rebuild, 1.6L NA
Thanx for the ideas. I've cleaned the injectors by running a quart of ATF, have screwed-in the governor 1/2 turn and unscrewed the full-load adjusting screw 1/4 turn, which gives me more compression-braking control. I've also screwed-in my max-speed screw and have the idle adjust screw all the way b...

Re: Revs decrease slowly - post IP rebuild, 1.6L NA
I don't know about governor modifications. My aim, in rebuilding this pump, was only to have my Golf operable as soon as possible (ASAP!) I had been borrowing a pump from a friendly professional mechanic, which performed perfectly. However, I felt that it was time to rebuild my original pump which f...

Revs decrease slowly - post IP rebuild, 1.6L NA
Whilst going down a hill, in gear, the revs increase with no pressure on the throttle. So, instead of moderating my downhill speed, as it should, the revs increase instead. Also, during acceleration and shifting into higher gears, the revs are slow to decrease. I just changed all of the bushings, se...

Re: Injection pipes
Thanx for both replies; you both agree on the cause, 'iatrogenic' (doctor-generated!). I'll look for a new set and an extra #2. I'll be lovingly careful with the new ones when I install them, but I must first find them.

Injection pipes
I exhausted search-term combos and didn't find anything for this subject, so here it is: I've run through two #2-injector pipes. This time, it's a broken flare-end at the pump - actually the sides of the flare are cracked, won't seal with any amount of torque and drip badly. Tell me: is this somethi...

Re: Hack needed: Golf Trailer Hitch?
I've moved to Oregon - sold the house in Seattle to co-purchase with Rachel (spouse) her father's house & land. I need a trailer now, to transport used rail-road ties up to the property; they come in 8' and 11'. I need a trailer, now. My brother in law has one that I may borrow, but I still must...
