Oooooh, I like the method of tapping into the body and routing tubing to a remote gauge. I have had trouble finding banjo fittings so that would be the best way to go for me plus I don't have to worry about screwing up the the out restriction hole.

I think I was looking at Hagar's tester and it looked like it had no throttle assembly. So you just add a fitting beneath the return banjo? And you just read it with the car running?

How are you guys spinning the pump and does anyone have a step-by-step on building the pump top tester?

Whoops, never mind what I said about the prechambers. I don't know what I was thinking.

Of course it can be done. The question is whether it makes financial sense. Having cylinders sleeved is not that cheap. Our local machine shop charges about $100 per cylinder including sleeves.

As far as I know, there is always some leak as thats how the accelerator functions. At anything less than full "throttle", diesel is allowed to exit the piston by the exit port where the accelerator plate thing slides over.

The head can be pressure-tested. You can tell from the pics that you will need the head reconditioned. Or maybe it would be better to find a decent used head. I don't even know if the pre-chambers can be fill welded because of the unique alloy. The head was probably fine before the person put those ...

Can anyone explain to me how the chipped out bearings drop oil pressure? Is it just the lack of a seal on the pump-side letting oil leak past? Or is that little bit of play causing the worm gear to slip? Or are the chips causing the whole shaft to bind?

Technically speaking, they would be line-bored, not reamed.

They may. Most don't. However, if you install the bearings and the intermediate shaft with a light coat of oil, you should be able to turn the the shaft by hand (with the pulley installed). I have the joy of dealing with this problem after I rebuilt my engine and put it back in the car because I did...

Depends on the colour of the smoke and when it happens. Blue smoke is bad. Very white smoke is bad too. Whitish-grey smoke is pretty normal on start-up, especially in cold weather. Black smoke is ok on full throttle. Most smoking problems can be cured with some injection tuning.

How is it that the IM bearings affect the oil pressure so much? I am beginning to think that is why my 91 is having low oil pressure. I rebuild the engine and put in new IM bearings but they seemed tight to me. Maybe they should have been reamed first. Maybe they twisted and obstructed the holes. Li...

Just remember that there is not much room in that area to get the two sensors on the same tee. Be careful how you position the tee so you can fit the sensors on and clear the vac pump and block.

I installed my oil cooler with no paste, etc., just with the o-ring and it doesn't leak at all.
