Re: Delivery valve differences and flow rates
the valves just hold residual pressure in the lines and don't affect the pop pressures. .... holds the lines at xxx bar (or xxx PSI) instead of starting at 0 each time.

Re: Tac wire?
W post on alt puts out too many pulses for your gasser tach.
the gasser tach wire used to go to the coil ( on the firewall in front of the driver)

Re: Excessive vibration in gear at idle, but not neutral. Wh
just a suggestion:
try turning the idle DOWN .... as the rev's increase, the auto tranny engages the clutch packs ( starts to lock up ) and transmits the engine pulses to the drive train.

if it sounds like a gasser ready to throw a rod ... yup its an air bubble that got pushed into the injector lines .. give it 3 -5 minutes at idle and it should clear up.

Re: tranny rumble
"if the diffs going it won't be long before tranny oil starts to leak out the stub shaft seals. You can check for excessive play in stub axles to be sure."
the stubs are spring loaded ... won't get much play showing.
still check the 1/2 shafts for worn CV joints ( can't hurt )

Re: Operational oil pressure?
engines need 7 PSI for every 1000 RPM to keep adequate oil on the bearings... less than that and you run them dry and spin a bearing ....

canadian intakes / egr's have the same isues ....
a VAGCOM can reset the computer to barely open the EGR and get rid of the problem.... if you just block off the EGR, you will get a CEL / code

Re: tranny rumble
sounds like one of the bearings in the diff section of the tranny has packed it in.
the metal bits are probably the cage that held the bearings in place... loading the tranny forces the bearings together and they rub against each other, coasting lifts the load and they separate a bit.

Re: 90 Jetta transmission whine
only when moving ... not at stop ...
side play in the diff section of the tranny .....
nothing to worry about. but no easy fix ... full tear down and re-shim the output.
does it whine only under load or also when coasting? ( will tell you which side/s to correct shim on )

add a limited slip kit to the tranny ( posi-traction ) to get both wheels going ....
is this strictly an off road beast or does it have to see the highway too?

Re: MK2 TD Garret T3 Problems
might be piston damage , but might also have bent the rods a bit... that throws the timing out and could cause the smoke and hard starts.

Re: 90 Jetta transmission whine
does it whine worse when at a stop light ( clutch pushed in) ? even in neutral? if so , it might be the throw out bearing ( behind the green trans cap )

Re: Argh! the brake valve broke off
reason for stuck bleeders is water ... it gets in the end of the bleeder... then rusts up the threads ... VW used to put a small rubber cap over the ends of the bleeder screws to keep the water out ..... many an old beetle had the original bleeder screws and calipers after years of use even in the R...

Re: Towing Long-distances with towbars + VW resources in Phi
its the "contact area" on the front side of the gears that takes the load when you drive ... look up "heel and toe" and research gears . when you decelerate, the contact patch changes position ( minimal time spent in this mode) and MAY cause wear if the trans is not set up perfec...
