Re: 86 Golf Temp Sensors and thermostat

My problem has been solved. I ohmed out the reservoir sensor and it was showing open. I connected it back, started the car and couple of minutes later, the gauge maxed out and the red LED came on. I disconnected and jumpered the two wires with a paper clip and the gauge settled back down and the red...

86 Golf Temp Sensors and thermostat

I have an 86 Golf 1.6 diesel NA that has been running great and recently my temp gauge maxed out and the red LED went on. No anti-freeze leaks and it only took 1/2 quart to fill it. I let it sit for several hours and then ran it at an idle and in a couple of minutes, the gauge maxed out and red LED ...

Re: 1985 golf diesel front conversion to round headlights

I have an 86 Golf diesel. When the headlights were left on and the key was turned off, the headlights went off, but the parking lights stayed on which I believe to be the way it was supposed to be. (I'm sure a relay is involved) Then starting several months ago, the headlights would stay on when the...

Re: I just cannot sell my rabbit.

April 2009, moved to NC from NJ and almost gave the Golf to my brother in law before I left because I didn't want to do the work. Better sense prevailed. Using this forum, I completed all the repairs and almost 70K later, still running the Golf averaging 50-52 mpg. Thank all y'all for your past and ...

1999 Cabrio

It's not a diesel, but maybe someone can help me. 1999 Cabrio, my daughter was driving, put her foot on the clutch and it went to the floor. The cable came out of the clutch lever at the trans. Does anyone have any info on repairing this. The cable isn't snapped, but on the end, it looks like a meta...

some info from another forum...

I was looking at a Dodge diesel website and this topic came up. Here are some of the things that were written. #1 Has anyone noticed with the new low sulfer fuel the exhaust smoke has taken on a lighter color of black, or is it just me. #2 Less sulpher = Less smoke. That's the whole idea behind ULSD...

Thank you Everyone (86 Golf on the road again)

You guys (and gals) are AWESOME. My 86 Golf was leaking at the IP after I installed a new steering rack (just a coincidence I'm sure) and I was ready to just give up as the car is in need of paint, tires, etc. But after reading this forum for weeks to the point of where I felt my head would explode,...

I have an 86 Golf NA 4-door that was given to me 2.5 years ago. The paint is faded, it smelled like dogs, the only door that would open from the outside was the passenger side front, heater wasn't working, etc, etc, etc. I recently put a steering rack in it and when I got home from the test drive, I...

I am new to this website, so if this is not allowed, please let me know.
