WTB- fuse panel cover from a jetta FOUND ONE!!!!!!!

I need the fuse panel cover from around an 89 diesel Jetta. The one that snaps into the under dash pocket/tray , CE2 I believe?. The part number for it is 192 857 7926. I'm wanting to put the under dash pocket/trays in my 91 in place of the knee bars. I have the deeper one (CE1 I believe) that won't...

best exhaust system for a n/a diesel with performance pump

We just put a Giles performance pump on my dads n/a jetta. We would like to remove the stock exhaust. I have a 2.5" custom built exhaust with no catalytic converter and a Magnaflow muffler on my 1.8 Jetta gasser. He thinks mine is too loud. Any suggestions on what size (2" 2.25" or 2....

Re: Handful of VW diesel IP cores for sale

What years are they, MK1 or MK2? I wouldn't mind buying one for a core but don't want to buy one for a 1.5 rabbit.

89 1.6 na diesel wont start after replacing head gasket?

Me and my Dad replaced his head gasket on his 89 1.6 na diesel. Now we are not getting fuel? I checked the timing on the pump, it seems to be within the right range. Could his pump have just died sitting a few weeks with the fuel lines disconnected? We have a Giles pump ordered, but we were hoping t...

cracked head junk or can it be rebuilt?

We took the head off my Dads 1.6 n/a diesel to replace the headgasket. While we had it off we noticed a crack between the valces on one cylinder. We put another really nice head back on. What I was wondering is the head junk or can it be welded? I don't need it but was wondering weather to scrap it ...

Re: Oil Pressure Light and Buzzer on at Hot Idle

I would have to agree with guy saying to check the pressure first. I have had this same problem on my 8v gasser. The first thing I did was make sure I had good oil pressure. I do have good pressure on both the high and low sides, I just have to listen to the buzzing once in a while. My Dads 1.6 na d...

How to identify what head gaskit I have?

If there is a sticky for this, sorry I did look. I'm getting ready to take my Dads head of his 89 1.6 NA, and noticed that they make 3 different head gaskets (1 ,2 or 3 notches?) for that year? Anyone have pics of the different "notches" that I will need to identify. I can post a pic of hi...

will a Dasher inline motor bolt up to a "tranverse"

I have a chance to buy an 80 Dasher with only 65,000 miles on it for $150. The body is rusted bad but the motor runs great. Just curious if this motor would work in a "transverse" setup like a jetta or a rabbit? It seems like I have heard they where different. Thanks for your help.

It is coming out at the cap. I think you might be right about a restriction. I thought it would start building pressure immediately if there was a head gasket problem. I'll check the hose for restrictions and I'll let you know what happens. Thanks,

89 1.6 n/a coolant system building pressure?

My Dads 89 1.6 na diesel is building pressure in the cooling system. The mechanic that put the timing belt on it replaced the coolant tank lid because it was leaking around the cap. He put in a dye in the cooling sysem that is supposed to change color if combustion gases mix in with it? He said it n...

Well I thought I fixed it. Tried starting it after sitting all night, no go. I used used return lines between the injectors to try and get it running. I'll get some new return lines tomorrow and see what happens.

got it running

I changed all the little lines going between the injectors and the pump. A few of them where wet from fuel, must have been getting air in the system. It took allot of cranking but she finally fire up!!! Thanks,
