Ya, coil spring is good stuff for pounding out chisels. You can torch off a piece, throw it in the forge, bang it into a chisel/punch/drift and then normalize it followed by heat treating. Normally people go to junk yards and grab different size ones from trucks etc. Old leaf springs are good too.

Well figured out what the issue was. When I got the struts removed I could see the part number. A PO installed an H&R 54740 Rabbit lower kit. The new springs popped me up almost 2 inches. I still have to do the rears but I can't wait to drive the car now. I have been avoiding certain roads for m...

My camera is giving me trouble but I got one good pic. This is the stainless and copper tank heater. http://www.epsilon-gamma.org/rabbit/tank_heater.jpg Found out after the fact that the tubing was 3/8 not 1/2 so if it seems like I have low flow I'll test with it out of the loop and see I may need t...

Ya I've perused your site a few times. Very nice! I actually found a stainless hook up and snake some copper through it. I'll try to post some picks and test results. Thanks, Rob.

I may be loosing it...

I'm stressing over the intank heater loop of coolant. So then I had an idea and wanted to run it past someone. I was thinking of making a loop out of copper with soldered fittings. However, I was thinking the part that goes down inside the tank could be aluminum gas appliance line around the copper ...

Wow. Cool I looked it up on line and it looked like a 195 so I should be OK with the 189. My fear is that going down hills on the way to work the temp drops sharply without load so hopefully this will help . Good to know there are options though. Napa has about 6 dif temp settings. Thanks, Rob.

189Deg F Thermostat

I'm finally getting back to the conversion and I have been watching my temp gauge closely. I rarely ever get over 180F. I'm usually running around 175. I'm thinking about installing a 189 so I have the extra heat capacity for getting veg up to temp. Is anyone else doing the same thing. I have a manu...

Ya I'll have to look. I may have a picture of the car sitting level too. The PO said he was looking into putting a jetta tdi motor in it but liked the way his jetta was running so decided against the project. The interior had been stripped, back seat removed, and shock tower braces installed. If it ...

Collapsed coil?

I have a problem with my car bottoming out. I figured it was the strut insert so in an attempt to grab a quick pic of the insert to determine if it's an inny or outty I noticed this... http://www.epsilon-gamma.org/rabbit/coil.jpg Does this look like the coil is collapsed or has been intentionally re...

Actually vdo had a m10x1 sender that was 10-120 ohms I believe. I put it in place of the stock sender. The only problem was the stock one looks like a straight thread and the vdo was ever so slightly tapered. It works and doesn't leak but left me wondering a little as it didn't thread all the way in...

OK now you got me thinking and googling... :? Why wouldn't I just run the hih from the engine bay to the tank? Maybe a couple turns of normal hose around the filter, then into the hih with the coolant. Out on the tank end of the hih and into a tank heater. Then back up to the engine to reheat. As lo...

Initially, I'm going to just try to run this in the warmer weather. If it works ok then I was going to make another hose next to hose setup to the veg tank for the winter. Most of the setups I saw used this or a FPHE to get things up to temp for injection. The FPHEs were more than I was willing to s...
