Re: 2009 Jetta TDI DSG Auto

lots of talk about this over at tdiclub, Just use b5 or B10 bio diesel and your HPFP will be happy as the bio helps keep it lubricated. Its been discussed that the dry s15 diesel is what causes them to freeze up and destroy themselves.

Re: 2010 Jetta TD thermostat question

Lots of talk about the engine wandering from 160-225F on the 2008+ 2.0 engines, my Passats gauge shows normal even with OBDII showing 220F during regen.

Re: Red Antifreeze

correct, you don't want to run the new orange or red coolants in our older engines or any non aluminum radiator engine-

Just a 10K mile update, everything running perfectly. OBDII scan tool shows EGT temperatures around 850F in town and 1,250F during regeneration.

Re: Scan Tool

I use the free android app torque and a cheap Bluetooth OBDII scanner $20 off ebay. I can scan all codes, and see live data in real time, even my DPF temperature that loves to keep my turbo around 1,200F

Re: Im back- a few TDI questions for my old friends :)

the DSG is pretty sweet, and smart- when in a parking lot once brake lights go off it applies just a tad of clutch to simulate a standard torque converter creep. very smooth and best of all when you apply the brakes the ECU starts gently downshifting just enough to keep the injectors off

Re: Im back- a few TDI questions for my old friends :)

after a few days of math. we decided on buying a closeout 13' Passat TDI. will save about $100 a month in fuel, so we made the purchase. Man this thing runs hot- I don't even want to know what the EGT temps are, pulled the thing into the cool garage and it rose the temperature in the garage 15 degre...

Re: Use of GM Dexcool flavor of Prestone in TDi

TDI engines use OAT-2 coolant, dexcool is a OAT as long as you change the coolant often your ok.

Re: New piston rings

I did a backwoods budget rebuild on mine back in 2004 with just rings, berrings and seals. Ran amazing! I just soaked the pistions for a week in paint thinner, my engine spun over very easy with all the new parts installed- I spun it over several times then re-torqued everything. This is a video tak...
