Re: Parting out '80 & '81 Diesel PU's
Yes I have two. I think one is sold, I'll have to pull the other one to check for cracks and warping. Both were good when parked.
It might be a few days before I can get to it.

Parting out '80 & '81 Diesel PU's
My '81 blew a motor today, so I think I'm getting out of the Rabbit business.
You name it, I probably got it.
Parts, tools, manuals, it's all going to go.
I'm about 50 miles NW of St. Louis.

Re: Blower motor wiring
Is the resistor the little rectangular gizmo that's attached outside of the black heater box, underneath the dash?
It has 4 wires going to it.
The blower motor has 2 wires running from it which goes to a detachable connection.
When I disconnect and put juice to it, it spins freely.
Thanks.

Re: Blower motor wiring
No spare switch. I guess I could test to see if it's bad with a jumper wire?

Re: Blower motor wiring
Colby,
I've never had high speed work for me. But it always warmed up nice so I didn't worry about it.
Yes fuse is good, and there's juice at the fuse box.

Blower motor wiring
So the yesterday when I made a stop and before I turned it off, the blower motor worked fine except on the highest setting. When I started it up there was nothing at any speed setting. Tested the motor, it's good. This is a '81 Rabbit diesel pickup w/ac. Although ac is disconnected. The two wires th...

Re: 82 vw rabbit pick up window wipers won'r turn off
One time I had water run down the antenna wire without knowing it.
Had to replace the whole fuse box.

Re: 1.6l from 81' rabbit pickup
I think someone makes a adapter plate for the Toyota trannies to put a 1.6 or 1.9 in older model pickups.

Re: Greetings and a question from new Rabbit owner
I had six point allen bolts on a cv joint where it bolts up to the tranny. This was on a '80 Rabbit pickup.

Well I went ahead and swapped the rebuilt for the spare I had.
No more leaks. Stops great. Life is good.

Re: Where's my brake fluid going?
Now I think it's the rubber plug not sealing with the master cylinder. This is a rebuilt from auto parts store. I had a spare master cylinder still connected to a parts truck. 1980 with electric connections. Reservoir and rubber plugs not leaking and holding fluid. Put the old plugs and reservoir on...

Re: Where's my brake fluid going?
So now I've put on the new master cylinder and it's leaking out both rubber plugs that the fluid reservoir goes into. Do these need to swell up before they hold fluid? I haven't even bled the brakes yet so there is no pressure. There is a drip coming out both plugs about every 10 seconds or so. What...

Re: Where's my brake fluid going?
I've got a spare one on a parts truck. I think I'll just swap it out and let the other one dry out after I try to clean it.
Every so often I have an original thought, by accident.Fatmobile wrote:Nice way to check for fluid in the booster.
