These are the guys i found: http://www.sevensistersauto.com/ They're pretty random, one of those great word of mouth shops, honest, relatively cheap, flexible, into alternative fuels, and diesel cars. If it wasn't for them, I have no idea who i would get to pop test injectors. Try shops that special...

Thanks for the info, actually, the ones i can get from the dealer are 'rebuilt', not new, so really, I think the smart thing is going to be getting a couple nozzles, and rebuilding them myself. I've read that rebuilding raises pop pressure a bit, as lapping down the body offsets the shim thickness a...

Injectors

Okay, new day, new diesel dilemma, I have an AAZ motor which has the double sprung, taller body injectors. Haven't been able to find 'em anywhere except the dealer. Is it a better idea to buy new, or rebuild? All i need to do is unscrew the bodies, get new nozzles, plop 'em in and screw the body bac...

Parts, inquiries

Great to know he can get anything, my car being a canadian manufactured '94 non TDI, it's often a struggle to find any parts at all.

I respect the parts policy of the owner/moderators, this forum is an incredible value/resource.

Debugged!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday morning, me and my spaz 12yr old brother(inlaw) went with our car to the shop. We pulled all 4 injectors, compression tested all 4 cylinders. I should have written down the compressions, but of course i do remember that #3 was drastically lower than the other 3 - 420(psi?). The highest was 50...

Notes

Notes: Went out early this AM, cycled the GP's, and the car started on the first try. Drove about 30mi mostly on the highway, parked in the driveway, turned off motor, and it wouldn't start. Tried 3 times. Also, car ran smooth with cold release lever pulled out, skipped when it was pushed in. Only s...

What does good compression feel like? I tried cranking the motor over by hand with a wrench on the crank with the motor cold, and there were points when i had to use quite a few ft/lbs to got the wrench to progress, and some when it was much easier. Also, i checked to make sure that the last 2 GPs, ...

Thanks

No, i completely know what you mean, and i appreciate the 'theory of troubleshooting' lesson immensely. My testing has been incomplete, i have trouble finding time for the necessary thorough testing. I did test the fuel from bottle start cold, only with cycling the GP's a few times. I need to (a) te...

Well, i've already tried to start it directly from a jar of fuel, with no success at all, what do i test next?
It seems like injectors are the next easiest thing to test. Can anyone reccomend a way to test injectors?

starting stuff up

Yeah, i wish i got a good handle on just how warm the engine was when i shut it down at the gas station but, It was at least very warm, not positive that it got up to 100% operating temp. When i went under the hood to go "duhhhhhh" at the station, the upper radiator hose was too hot to tou...

Bottle running

No, actually i reconnected the lines to the filter, ran the GP's twice, and it barely caught after cranking. I drove it around the block, realized that the reason the brakes didn't work is that the brake booster was disconnected from the vacuum pump, turned the car off in a gas station, fueled up, (...

update

so the car was in fact running oddly when i went downstairs, and there was smoke coming out of the tail pipe with the car fully warmed up, no air bubbles in the lines.

Any thoughts about that?

I've done a ton of research about SVO/WVO, although i've never implemented a system myself. From what i understand, it's imperative to have the oil heated. A provider local to us, greasercar.com says that veg oil should be a minimum of 160F to be, in laymans terms, the same thickness as diesel. I th...

It's ALIIIIIIVE

I just lowered the car to the ground, so that i could try push starting it with a jeep, cycled the glow plugs and turned the key, and i got a few chugs right away. Cycled GP's again, gave it about 50% accelerator pedal, and chugga chugga vroooooom! So when it first caught for real, it was very rough...
