ENGINE/IP selection guidance needed

I am converting a '91 golf gasser to diesel. I have two differnt 1.6 n/a engines I am considering using. Both have 5 speed trannys, the codes slip my mind at the moment. First engine is out of a '91 jetta. It was treated rough and would need to be rebuilt (timing belt slipped, not sure what else). 1...

It might not be the cheapest solution, but I would check out Viton. I think it should be available in that size and is definitely biodiesel compatible. McMaster Carr has Viton as well as other suppliers.
