From reading Hagar's and other's posts I feel confident I don't need any shop to calibrate my pumps, I just measure the internal pressure, right? Ok, maybe I'll need them to set the delivery valves and injector pressure if I can't get myself a pop tester. I think there's a little bit more to it tha...

Parts for a rebuild don't seem to be a problem but what is, is getting any tune shop guy willing to run up and calibrate a pump if they havent rebuilt it themselves. There's two in the small city where I live and both told me "your work might bust my expensive tune machine." Comments?

Yes it's a lovely trip on the Interislander. Sea-going birds, dolphins and whales (maybe), a stiff salty cool breeze in your face and the deck on the move beneath your feet. Breath-taking scenery and and enough water between you and land to make you feel you're on a voyage to the New World. The Maor...

By all means, do drop by! Lol. We're in a district on the east coast of the North Island called Gisborne. A warm, sunny place with great beaches. This was the first place Captain Cook landed when he discovered New Zealand in 1769.

Thank you for your responses, fellas.

Edit: By chance at a scrap metal dealer yesterday I found the best part of a junked IP which I brought home and can confirm it is substantially the same as in the pictures.

If so, why does it cost a small fortune to overhaul these pumps?

Thanks Andrew. Here's a pic of the IP in the truck...close as I could get. - http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o229/girlguidebiscuit/P1010082_small.jpg And I picked up a spare motor a while back, same pump...better detail, more dirt. - http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o229/girlguidebiscuit/P10100...

Surfcam, thanks for the reply. The Isuzu pump is a VE4 Bosch I believe and there is no lift pump so it would seem to be similar to the VW IP. What I want to know is if the overhaul instructions here will apply to the Isuzu pump too. Australia is our nearest neighbour. There are great similarities an...

Bosch VE/Rotary and Isuzu IP applicability

Hi Everyone from New Zealand down in the South Pacific. This is a really terrific thread. Can someone in the know please help with a couple of questions? 1) Libbybapa says "The Bosch pump looks "crowded" doesn't it? and yet, can't complain, a rotary pump is worse." I thought a VE...
