Last weekend I bought a 2004 Jetta GLS TDI for my wife to drive. It's a BEW engine code with a 6PC transmission code. 177,600 miles and clean as a whistle inside and out. Appears to have been very well cared for. So, she drives the '04 Jetta and I'll continue to drive the '89 two door w/ the 1.6NA....
Don't feel bad, in our state they use liquid calcium instead of salt. Its like pouring hot acid on the road and the effects on the vehicles is as such. Liquid calcium is used here in NY city as well.
