Mayor, No problems neccessarily. I read a post one time about increasing mileage on some older(80's)diesel engines by readjusting the internal fuel pump pressure on some injection pumps that were worn. Some of the guys were able to get their mileages up to where they were when the car was newer by s...

Surfcam, The other interesting thing is that the Mercedes diesels of later years use lower injection pressures than my newer 2002 TDI, so perhaps the advantage in the older vehicles is more apparent, and in the newer diesels not so much. Maybe I should use my device on an older Mercedes diesel to se...

Surfcam, The interesting thing is that the oil companies have been exposed to the same technology to make pumping thick crude a little easier. I don't think the oil companies would be taken by snakeoil salesman. I have experimented with this technology on my 2002 jetta TDI. As of yet, I have not got...

Device for improved MPG? See what you think...
Fellas, Just wanted to let you guys know about an interesting device that boasts a little better fuel economy for diesels. This is NOT HHO! This has been tested on a Mercedes Diesel in the article, and has shown improved mileage when used. See what you think: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

Internal injection Pump Pressure
Fellas, Just though I woud share a little bit about my injection pump pressure deaings: I went to the junk yard and obtained a stainless steel fuel rail fuel pressure test port from a chevy or chrysler vehicle(for free). These are the pressure test ports that are on gas vehicles, and they have a sch...

I am no expert by any means, but I wouldn't think it would take more than 1/3 to 1/2 HP max. It sounds as though you may need to experiment a bit to find out. I have read on the net about guys turning them with drills, which would be far less than 1/2 HP if that is the case. In any event, good luck!...

2002 Jetta TDI Excessive Serp. Belt Tensioner Travel?
Fellas, Just some history on my car: purchased 5 mths ago. Previous owner replaced the Timing belt, T.belt tensioner, water pump etc. Recently I noticed some moisture on the bottom of the Serpentine belt tensioner, so I knew it needed replaced. I ordered one from Prothe and installed it with a new b...

Internal injection pump pressure...
Guys, Just wanted to give some background and a little info on my IP pressure dealings. Probably 3 weeks ago I read a thread about adjusting the IP internal pressure back to specs on VW diesels. Since I get a little gung ho on things I decided to go ahead and tap a little bit on the IP fuel pressure...

Caveman, Since you know about these cars maybe you could answer this question. The other day I sprayed a very small amount of brakeClean into the intake at the EGR, and after a few seconds I noticed a white fog coming from the exhaust. I had thought I messed something up even though I didn't hear an...

2002 VW Jetta 1.9L TDI internal IP pressure questions...
Fellas, Just the other day I was reading a post by Hagar I believe about adjusting the internal IP pressure to about 76 at 1000 RPM. I rigged up a pressure guage that measures the internal IP pressure from the vent bot on the back of the IP. I am measuring 100 psi at idle for the pressure....Is that...

catalytic converter
Caveman,
Thanks for the info, that clears it up. I wonder how hot it gets on the catalytic converter surface? 1400 Deg F?
