Re: Should I sell it? 1985 VW NA 1.6 Golf

All I know is that the apex of 'ol non-turbo Rabbits & Golfs passed by several years ago. I've seen 'em going for prices all over the place from $400 to $3,000 lately. I sold my '81 pickup with a newly overhauled engine and lots of extras for about $2,500 a year ago. The highest was an '81 Rabbi...

I have one that is threaded if that is what you have. I have seen numerous styles of after market caps on these cars. Just have to take a look at the parts places.

F/S: 1.6L 11mm heads x 3 & alternators and starters....C

I have three heads that need a new home. You can have 'em for free if you want to come and pick them up in S. Idaho or N. Nevada. Also, several starters and alternators.... same price! Take-out stub axles also!
I need to clear the decks and hate to waste goodies like this. Drop me a message!

Good clean used tanks aren't that hard to find. I have sold several over the years out of wrecking yards, etc. Gas and diesel tanks are the same but diesel tanks are much more likely to be rust free! Watch Ebay and Vortex :D

Well shucks Quantum-man! I guess rules are rules. I bet he is thinking of worn vanes allowing fuel to back-pressure up to the return fuel line. The hint or "prone to wear" is the ticket! Just what specific worn part will allow fuel to bypass injection, eh?

Here's a bit of a pump puzzle for you to consider. The orifice of the out bolt is not the only path for fuel to exit the pump. How else does fuel flow from the pump body to the return line without going to the injectors first? Here's a hint, the other path is more prone to wear than the orifice. :r...

The problem could possibly be in the ignition switch. I had an '81 that would start but then immediately die when the key was released....unless you held it in just the right spot. Diesel Ign switches are different from gassers too. So, if it isn't the fuel stop solenoid, it might be the switch. You...

[quote="tripseven Anyone have pics of their cam sprocket locking tool?[/quote] I have a pic but can't get at it right now. I made it out of a old lug wrench (ford) and a couple of CV Axle to Transaxle bolts. Cut the lug off the lug wrench and welded the bolts to the wrench where they match the ...

Nopesir  No key on the camshaft pulley as we all now know so well! Made to adjust precisely the timing so that the pulley is omnipositional on the cam. It is only a tapered shaft with lots of friction when the locking nut is tight enough! I was travelling back and forth between Battle Mountai...
