1.6 valve adjustment
I've read the Bently Manual on valve adjustment and I have attained the proper tools to do the job with, I depressed both lifters per instruction. The shim will rotate easily but I can't get it to move up. Am I missing something or is it just suction being created by the oil? Thanks for any comments.

Sometimes when I try to start the engine it just clicks once softly. I can get out, take a piece of #10 wire touch the small wire on the starter and the battery(+) terminal and it will always crank right up. Would this problem be in the solenoid or key switch or where.

82 jetta drivers side drum brake
I put new brakes on my 82 jetta, I had to remove the self adjusting wedge in order to prevent it from tightening the brake too tight. Has anyone had any problems such as this? Everything works fine without the adjuster, right know.

I had a block in that condition once, a 2 cylinder John Deere, I used cocacola. It worked took a couple of days. Bored it .030 over new pistons .030 over good as new. I'm told the phosphoric acid in the coke done the trick. Good Luck

Re: 82 Jetta
Thanx for the info. I found a tray in the trunk and it fits in the location in front of the windsheild you mentioned sure didn't know what it was. I'll check the drain ports too, here in Kentucky we have a lot of problems with mud dobbers.

82 VW first ride
Drove my almost rebuilt Jetta for the first time today. Everything worked well. I need a new set of tires and a radio that works and I'll be ready to go . Headlights didn't seem real bright.
It was a lot of fun to work on it all winter and drive it in the spring.
Thanks for all the help.

My Bently shop manual shows a relay in circuit with both fuel gauge and temputure gauge. Does anyone know what relay this would be? What is a load reduction relay?

Re: 82 VW jetta deisel/ electrical short
Found the short, think its the glow plug relay. The relay matches my bently book for plug pattern. Inside of relay was very rusted and return spring was rusted into allowing it to move anyway it wanted to. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these relays: 171 911 261 A SME 12V GERMANY SIEMENS 5W...
