Re: Hi, I'm new here.....lotsa questions
quantum man makes a good point. I have sen some mileage counters that trigger a idiot light on some early MK2 VW product. they also provide a point to splice Speedo cables. follow your speedo cable and make sure the Speed changer person did not install a different cable with one of those idiot light...

Re: Hi, I'm new here.....lotsa questions
Sweet car. You are right on with the Speed o gear. (don't mess with it) I think your tire size is the culprit. The rim size does not matter to the speedo. Only the aspect ration of the tire. a 195/60 is a fairly tall tire. When they wear out hit a tire calculator and find a 195/55 185/XX 175/XX ect....

Re: 92'eco debacle
The latest is the car struggles to build heat. I used to warm up fairly quick to a 1/4 mark of the temp gauge. now i rarely get the temps up out of the fat white line at the bottom. the car is warm as I get great heat out of the heater but the gauge or temp sender must be taking a crap. the Glow plu...

Re: 92'eco debacle
Yes, EGT is a pyrometer. I am going to need one. this car is a rocket ship to 60 1-2-3, 4th is a waste of time and fifth is a bit tall at 60 to accelerate the car. ( I could easily build heat with excess fuel ) My daughter picked up on it right away, The initial observation is the engine temp is rea...

Re: 92'eco debacle
Well today was the lucky day. School starts soon and my Daughter is antsy to get her car back to full speed. I dug up a CHE (or CEH Which ever) 3/67 RP and Dropped the trans out and Tried for a bout 5 mins before it dawned on me the CLUTCH is a different size. Swappe the pressure plate flywheel and ...
Re: Mud stove
What was the role of the straw.? did you coat the straw(watery mud) then mix in. or just use the straw as a fibourous strength member? Also did you have much trouble learning the Burn for the canner. I seem to over shoot when I do soups. With the fire way over by the skillet I assume there is enough...

Re: 92'eco debacle
I used this site to ID the various trans.
http://www.zelek.com/diagram_charts/diagramlist.htm
Tomorrow I will wander around the shop and see what trans I have.
If I find one of the O2O trans that have the .71 I may consider the swap.

Re: 92'eco debacle
I have a link to a web site in my computer at home that has all the gear ratios of all the trans. I had that trans in the rally car and took it out in favor for a ACN I can't remember right now what the difference was but I think it was a taller fourth. there has to be some reason VW went with low g...

Re: Price check to avoid SEllers remorse
Yes I have resigned to the fact that it is just a Jetta. Healthy diesels are rare around here. (in my circles) Diesels that don't start in Winter are all around. as are rusty ones. thanks for the confirmation. I heard back from the A1 buyer. he is going to take it. I am going from four Diesel Vw's t...

Re: 92'eco debacle
I was intending to go with the older 3.89ish diesel trans. I like the gear set in the Eco. Have you (or anyone) tried the 3.67. I am thinking to put together a 2Y gear set with a 3.67 RP. My other recipe would be the 2Y 1-4 and eco 5th with the 3.96? RP 4.2 is a bit deep for interstate running but t...

Price check to avoid SEllers remorse
I am out of touch with the selling aspect of VW A1 and A2. In my desire to constantly challenge myself I used to scoure/search CL and find distressed VW's. I mostly used the parts to keep the rally car presentable condition. After 12 years of rally racing I have acquired a quite a few neat VW's. Tod...

Re: 92'eco debacle
Well here we go again. My daughter went north to chill out at the cabin and cut the grass. checked the fuilds and sent here on her way. 3hr trip, No issues. Day 2 " well I was running to town to get a ??????? and now I have two neutrals" She says: It sounds like a card in the spokes where ...
