My son has a 91 ECO and his car always returns no less than 47 mpg and on long hauls he would get 52 mpg.
Nothing special has been done to it. Stock all the way around.

That Rabbit looks like it is in good shape. I would definitely spend the time on it.
Automatic Rabbit Diesels are kinda scarce. Second automatic Rabbit Diesel I have seen with a coolant level sensor. TD Rabbits have them also.
