Cool! That Rabbit looks pretty good for it's age, and potential!
Looking forward to the build thread.

Re: Seized Engine
This sounds like a great project!
Get the right motor in there, and tweak the other stuff that probably need attention (brakes/tires/wipers) and your on your way!

Re: Setting Pump timing?
Sounds like you're new to the VW diesel world. I'd highly suggest you buy a Bentley repair manual. It's the bible for work on these VW engines. You'll save more money over the lifespan of your vehicle with the cost of that repair manual. The entire process is covered in the manual. I'm sure you can...

Re: Running, but....
Well.....I'm almost ready to give this one back to it's owner! Drove it last night for about 20 miles and no problems...well, orriginal issue oriented problems anyway (heater doesn't blow air and it could use some suspension work)....but the motor is running strong. http://img.photobucket....

Re: Running, but....
I didn't do anything to the wiring when I did the rebuild and GP modification except cut the brown wire going to the orrig GP buss that was mounted on the side of the battery box (I capped it/sealed it) and I also disconnected the power to the GP relay under the dash. I tapped a "key on" h...

Re: H2O pump housing bolts
Thanks all! I pulled the whole housing today with no issue, however the 4 long bolts look like they should be replaced too. I'm pulling the small ones after lunch; I see what looks like could be antisieze!! or maybe just wishful thinking... I'll pick up all new stainless bolts from tacoma screw tom...

Re: Injector Pump Bracket Question
ps: can anyone see what rookie mistake I made during the reassembly? If that motor is going into a transverse mount (Rabbit/Golf/Jetta), the stud for the belt tensioner should be left out, as you'll never get a tensioner on with it in place. That, and hopefully your crank is at or near #1 TDC (from...
