FS: MK1 Diesel Non AC kits
Up for sale are 3 kits to convert your MK1 1.6D / 1.6TD to Non-AC. 2 are complete and 1 is just a bracket and alternator which I will sell separately or together. All 3 alternators have been tested and are 100% functional. **These kits require the 30mm water pump hub for the WP pulley.** Belt size t...

I would just order one from the dealer if you have one close...no shipping charge, just go pick it up when they get it in, usually next day.

There's nothing wrong with cold oil pressure @ 100 psi, it is quite normal.
That T6 5w40 synthetic is an excellent oil to use for your engine.

Re: Remove power steering
LOL Well I am in Central / South Texas so many would argue AC is a MUST HAVE, but I have gotten by with the windows down. As long as you are moving and not sitting in traffic, it really isn't too bad. I can live with more creature comforts when I get old and grey, or have kids to haul around.... I'm...

Re: Remove power steering
I installed that power steering loop thing from EAA on my MK2 about a year and 10k miles ago. Parking lot maneuvers, making a 3-point turn, basically anytime the car isn't moving or just barely rolling it is pretty tough to turn, but nothing ridiculous. I'm a scrawny skinnny dude and I don't even no...

I've ordered lots of bolts and stuff from these guys, they are great for metric stuff.

Re: Correct injection pump cover gasket from Bosch kit?
I've never cut anything off a gasket and no pumps of mine are leaking. I've found myself using the round one on MK1 pumps, and the molded fit one I use on the MK2 pumps. They seem to work and seal just fine for their specific application. I don't know where this cutting business came from, but I do ...

Re: 1991 sticky ignition/accessory switch
I tried this exact same thing when I wired in my radio to key power. My ignition switch is also "hit and miss" in all positions, likely from being old and worn out. So I just decided to wire the radio up to the constant 12V source that the cigarette lighter uses. Then you can turn on/off t...

Re: 85 Diesel Jetta at Wide Open Throttle
Hello Rick, glad to try and help another fellow VW IDI diesel lover. I'm not an elder by any stretch of the imagination, but I can give you a few things to check out and maybe determine if something internally is wrong or not. The only two things externally on the pump that control the fueling are t...

The only washers I'm aware of that aren't copper and used for sealing are these.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v55/dedfrog/image001-3.jpg You need one of the little concave ones that go on the roller ring assembly? (Bottom right of picture) I also have one from a spare pump I can send you if yo...

Re: Quick question on 107A leaking pump seal
Yep that was my experience with my car after it sat in a barn for 5-6 years. My throttle shaft seal started leaking, replaced it. Then the seal between top half and bottom half weeped. Then the distributor head O-ring started leaking so bad, I was only getting about 20 MPG highway . I took i...

Re: To charge or not to charge.
I've experimented with propane in my R12 system on the ECOdiesel. Other than the leaky high pressure hose, it has a rebuilt compressor, new expansion valve, and all new o-rings. It worked EXCELLENT for about a week till it leaked all out. I was getting 30-50 for vent temps, and it was the best week ...
