Re: Big turbo setup on 1.9td

Turns out I didn't block the recirculation valve off properly.

Big turbo setup on 1.9td

Yo guys, I have a Bosch pumped 1.9td. It is not a VW but the engine is basically the same. Why am I posting here do you ask? Well due to the expertise and forum traffic here compared to my car's specific forum (pug306.net). I know you VW guys are into diesel tuning as well  This is what the mo...

Re: Bosch VE pump; won't idle after rebuild

Just thought I would post an update on this, since I did get a lot of advice. It turned out to be that the fuel filter was blocked to the extent that it was affecting the injection timing slightly. With a new filter in the engine was as good as new. As it turns out the pump that I had rebuilt was fi...

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

Right, finally got this washer out, but not without some damage to the injector seat: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/Flynn_bucket/P1010012-4.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/Flynn_bucket/P1010003-5.jpg The bolt was not useful in the end, but the oven cleaner and pick were. It is ...

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

I can see why, you were suggesting a woodscrew now :D But regardless of what is supposed to be in there, I've got to get what is in there out first. What's a UNF? I shall make an attempt today with what I've got and see how it goes.

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

It seems to screw in pretty tight to me. I have no idea where to get a woodscrew from. If this doesn't work I'll have to pull the head.

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

Right, a suitable bolt has been found. It fits into the spare washer that I have, with a good degree of tightness: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/Flynn_bucket/P1010001-11.jpg However, my concerns are that the inside of the washer will just shear off and therefore I will be back to square on...

How would that work though? I guess there's nothing to lose from trying it at least.

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

That's the very thing I am having trouble finding though. I have a spare washer that I have taken to the hardware store to look for a bolt that would fit but the biggest screw I could find was way too small in diameter. I have bought some spray on oven cleaner which I hope will help but I can't see ...

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

Your wisdom quickly if I may. I went to a large hardware store and could not find a bolt big enough to fit the washer. I was wondering if this tool might work: http://www.lasertools.co.uk/items/pdf/Products/4702_Instructions.pdf But it looks like it's made for small DI injectors and might not be big...

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

Dare I say, it does actually shake very violently when the idle goes under about 1100 RPM. Do you propose to use a large bolt that threads into the inner circumference of the shield?

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

Okay so ruling out the injector lines, that leaves two distinct possibilities; the injectors are buggered up some how (BOTH sets); or the copper heatshield is indeed causing an issue. If it is the heatshield I'll ask around some garages to see if they will handle it (unlikely unless they are special...

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

Is it possible that the copper heatshield could be allowing the injector to be tightened down further than it is supposed to be in it's damaged state? Even if the torque setting is the same? With the fine tolerances involved, surely that could lead to the spray pattern to being incorrect? I find it ...

Re: Bubbles around glowplug

It constantly smokes, but it never used to. I have made a video of the tail pipe which you can see: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/Flynn_bucket/th_P1010023-1.jpg The car is running at a fast idle, but it is the same all the time. A puff of smoke every rotation. Regarding the glowplug bubbli...

Re: CV axle fail? torn boots, slight clicking

I've been having trouble with CV boots lately. Is your car lowered at all? Since lowering mine it seems to eat the CV boots, mainly the inner ones. I never even clean the CV joints I just dump some new grease in with the old grease, I can't stand the job because the grease gets absolutely everywhere!
