[quote= Might not come with the studs,.. that's usually the upgrade kit that has those. Long set screws work better anyway,.. because they screw in with an allen wrench. [/quote] I just ground off the centre torque limiting section on the old studs and bought some stainless steel acorn (dome) nuts.

I had some correspondence with that guy at dieselsend, about a set of shims, but we couldn't figure out how I could pay (German isn't very good). Finally figured out (with help from German friend) that he wanted payment by bank transfer for which the the bank wanted $40 service fee. I forgot all abo...

On the MK2s there's a big difference between German and Mexican made models. On my Mexican '91 Golf I used the cheap one. On the German '87 GLI,.. I used the cheap one,.. but was supposed to use the spendy trim that was on it,.. worked anyway. The Mexican trim just fits around the windshield before...

rsxsr.. Thank you for a pretty detailed response. I only have an arc welder I've used on mild steel. Not sure about welding stainless, but I have a neighbour who's a proficient welder. We can probably work something out. Thanks, again. fatmobile... Yeah, I know it has an integral flex joint. What co...

Do you have a pic or link to it?
TT doesn't compete with Jack so links to it can be posted here.

That downpipe probably has the support brackets that go to the block? Actually, no. This is a "Techtonics Tuning" aftermarket downpipe. It doesn't come with the support brackets. That was what I was wondering about...how to rig some sort of brackets to support the flex joint at the top of...

I just got my stuff yesterday, so it's not installed yet either. Only paid $150 (Cdn) for the lot. I think what you're planning is pretty much what I had in mind, except that measuring the downpipe where the two converge, it looks like 2-1/4". It might be easier to just continue on with the str...

Dual Downpipes (from a 1.8 Gti) in a 1.6 n/a Diesel Qestions

I got a really cheap deal on a Techtonic Tuning stainless steel dual downpipe (nran' noo, never installed) and a 1.8 4-2 exhaust manifold. I'm sure a few of you have already done this, so... 1. How did you rig up supports (for the flex section)? 2. What size pipe did you use? (appears to be 2-1/4&qu...

Ah. Ok. That makes sense. Thanks for clearing this up. Now I gotta find out which belts fit and cross them at the local auto parts store and get the right ones for the gas car till the flat bed comes in February and hauls it off. (YAY) I hate that car. I also noticed something new on my 1.6. When I...

On the switch there are two terminals #1 and #2

BLACK/red goes on terminal #1 (from fuse box)

BLACK/blue goes on terminal #2 (goes to the reverse lights)

www.brokevw.com discusses the wiring of the reverse light switch
including the earlier "big" switch.

I have a pair of winterforce that I used on the front of my Rabbit last winter. Haven't put enough miles on them to notice any cupping. Great snow traction. Yeah, but, like most other sensible people :) , you probably aren't driving on snow tires "all year round" like Dan Houg. As if dies...
