what's up with the 2006 that's a problem?

I'm mostly concerned about any looseness upon installation or tolerance buildup that would allow the flywheel to be off by some amount that would cause any IP and cam timing settings to be off without you knowing it...

But it's got to be solid and of a fixed length/position so that the exact same piston location can be achieved on either side of TDC. I've heard of people welding a bolt on the end of a spark plug. But that idea won't work because it won't get down past the diesel prechamber.

Is there a convienant way with the head on to verify that TDC on the flywheel is actually TDC? I figured that if that is off just a little bit that it could make a difference. I don't recall exactly but isn't the flywheel just bolted onto the crank? No alignment pin? So it seems like you could get s...

Since the recent demise of my 84 quantum TD I'm considering a 96, 97 or 98 Passat TDI. Mid size, good MPG, inexpensive price. Do all TDI have an intercooler? Is there anything I should look for or avoid when deciding on one of these years? Or should I go for a jetta instead? Would it be the A2 engin...

Otherwise it's a great idea but I'd skip the "bake everything together" which was listed as the last step. What purpose does that serve? Just let it all cool down ASAP when you're done.

I use snap ring pliers to adjust the timing belt tension pulley. The ones that are bent 90 degrees near the tip are best so you have room.
