Head Gasket Question

I replaced my head gasket about 2 years ago and now it is leaking oil like crazy so I guess its time for a new one. If I remember right I read somewhere on here that the Victor Rienz was better then the Fel Pro. I used the VR last time so I want to find something better if possible. I found a head g...

A Couple of Questions

Have a couple of questions on my 91 Jetta 1.6 TD. I am having some starting problems. When its cold out it cranks slow and the bendix kicks out and grinds. I already pulled and cleaned all + and - cable connections. After looking through other posts I am thinking it might be the starter bushing. I t...

Re: Alternator Pulley Question

I have been looking for a new pulley without much luck. Anyone know what the part # is? Tyler- The idle thing make sense. The belts flap like crazy at idle. Might try turning up the idle some to smooth it out. I have replaced the alternator, tried the back bend idler, tried several different belts a...

Alternator Pulley Question

So I have the all too common AC / Alt belt squealing and breakage. I have tried a number of belts and "solutions" with out much success. I have noticed that when the belt is squealing bad and then I stop the engine and check the 3 pulleys involved the alt pulley is the only one thats warm....

Re: Injector line question

I checked with forum owner but he did not have them so I guess Im going to go with Mk1. PS: don't forget to loosen the lines and re-snug anytime you move the IP... when you forget, that's usually how they crack. Lesson learned - I shimmed IP to fix tracking problem with timing belt. Didnt think to l...

Injector line question

So #2 Injector line broke today. This is on a 91 Eco turbo diesel (jetta). Everywhere I look at lines they only list lines for N/A engines. My question is...is there any difference in the Inj lines on a N/A and turbo engine?
Also are the new lines from Mk1 Authaus any good?

Re: Fuel Leak Question

Well that was very good advise about centering the line and then tightening it down. I tried it and took the Jetta for a test drive. When I got back there was fuel on the injectors still and I of course was very frustrated. Got to looking around some more and finally found the source of the leak. It...

Fuel Leak Question

I have a question about a fuel seepage leak coming from the top of #2 & 3 injectors. At first I thought it was the fuel return line so I replaced them but it didnt help. It isnt leaking bad enough that I can pinpoint exactly were it is coming from. Both fuel line nuts are tight. Any ideas on the...

Quick Question about Filling Coolant

So I know that you are supposed to fill your coolant by starting the engine and letting the air work itself out of the system. My question is that with the engine running should there be coolant flowing into the overlow tank? If so is it all the time or only when the thermostat is open?
