The top hose has been replaced with a copper manifold, but the hose routing is stock.

Here is a picture of the glow plug relay and fuse:

The fuse is hard to see, but there is a plastic cover with a "strip" style fuse behind it. I think the fuse is a 50A, but it could be 30A.

Just ask for the plug the goes on the last injector return port. Jack should know what you are talking about.

I looked into using the easy-solder fittings, but that did not work out. The OD of the fittings is to large for the rubber hoses to go over. What I did was make a ring out of 12GA solid copper wire. Then solder this onto the end of the pipe. Seems to work well.

Hi - Mine's a 1982 1.6D n/a. It has fast plugs - seven seconds. Is there a way to tell whether it's SUPPOSED to have fast or slow? Would 30-second plugs generate more heat? I looked in the bentley manual for Vanagons and there is a section on "Quick glow troubleshooting". Not sure if that...

Here is how to bench bleed at master cylinder: To bench bleed, you need to mount the master cylinder solidly on the bench. Some times you can just clamp it in a vice. Be sure it is level or you will likely never get all the air out. Next, you must connect short lines to the output ports on the cylin...

Have you check to make sure that the long pipes running up to the rad are clear? It sounds like your heater works, is that right? If you turn the heater on full heat and high fan does the temp gauge still go to max when idleing? What if you rev the motor a little? If so I would replace the temp. sen...

The entire fuse block must be fused....? Not sure what you mean by "fuse block must be fused...". On my Vanagon a some of the fuses have unused 1/4" spade connectors on the down feed side of the fuse. I just assumed these extra connectors are for options that my Vanagon does not have.

The IP solenoid's the one wire right on the back of the injector pump, correct? Is there also a keyed wire on the back of the alt? Yup about the IP wire. And there is one wire on the alt that is keyed, but I don't know how much power you can pull from it. That would not be my first choice. I would ...

Re: Hella auxiliary battery divider

Hi - I was wondering whether anyone's installed the auxiliary battery divider sold by Hella - the wee blue plastic box with the fuse. Mine's about in, but I need to select a keyed wire to tap into, and wondered what others have used. Thanks! Where have you mounted the battery divider? If by the mot...
